Meet the Maker: rejiquar

Hi there, welcome to Rejiquar Works. I started drawing when I was old enough to hold a pencil, discovered beads at 5 or 6, embroidery at 10 or 12, and metalworking in high school---I've strung beads for nearly 25 years, and been making them over a decade. My background in making durable jewelry of reasonable weight has informed my lampworking philosophy: I started making mandrel wound hollows early on, and continue to specialize, making both designer-sized and focal hollow beads in a variety of styles, primarily in soda-lime, but occasionally in lead or boro glasses.

Texture and color are the interests that drive my work, and I try also to balance the demands of clean, durable technique against the needs to keep my prices reasonable. Part of this again comes out of my stringing background: a bead that is hopelessly wonky to my lampworking soul might be the perfect beginning to a great strung piece---a lot of my strongest work has started off with some less than perfect thing that I'm trying to overcome.

Obviously I love writing about my work, and am happy to answer your questions---email or convo me. You can also learn more about my working methods on my website (also called rejiquar:)
