I design and handcraft these quality pieces of wearable art using quality materials not found if you run to the mall to find something special to wear. I've always seen the beauty in things around me and have always wanted to create beautiful things to appreciate in my daily life. It bring me joy to do this and to share that beauty with others. My talents as a designer are "second nature" to me, so it seems quite fitting that my business should be called Second Nature Jewelry. I have created beaded jewelry and accessories for nearly 20 years and also enjoy doing graphite and charcoal drawings of the nude figure. My excitement in creating a special piece still is as fresh as it was more than twenty years ago.
After 25 years of working with children who have developmental disabilities, funding was cut and I was out of work. My passion for working in that capacity could not be a choice for earning wages anymore. That passion is still strong but, in Michigan's economy, now was the perfect time to devote more of my energy to my jewelry and fine art nudes for income potential, while I continued to offer my time and skills to advocate for children on a voluntary basis. I want my work to show my energy, my passion and it's quality to reflect an attention to detail and a flair for the uncommon. I really hope that you enjoy how it feels to wear my pieces, the weight of the piece, the coolness or warmth of the gemstone, it's beauty in design as well as the beauty of the individual stones within the piece.
