Meet the Maker: newdaycrochet

As far as I can remember, these hands have been busy doing something.
My mother belonged to a kit of the month club when I was younger, so there was always something for me to cut, sew or glue. I enjoyed that and was always proud of my finished product, as well as my mother.
In high school I had wanted cosmetology, but would not have been old enough by the beginning of the next school so I opted for a class they called Fashion Tailoring. I learned to use every power maching one could find in a factory, but I'm still waiting to learn the 'fashion tailoring'.
About 17 years of age, I learned to crochet. That was new and I really enjoyed it as I do know. I've learned that if I wasn't sewing or crocheting or just doing something creative, I didn't feel well. I would feel lost. To some this may sound strange, but I had to keep busy, keep creating.
In 2007, I decided I wanted to start my own shop, a dream I'd had for years, but had not pursued until then. I knew I didn't want to do brick and mortar but I wanted to sell what I made and I was told about Etsy. I opened a store there that year and this one this past Feburary.
I love what I do, that is one thing my grandmother told me, do what you love, what makes you happy. She was a beautician, ran her shop from the basement of her home for many years. Sewing and crocheting or my loves. I also enjoy other forms of art, but these are my favorites.
