Meet the Maker: Wooleycreek
I started making rag dolls in 1979. I considered rag dolls a lost craft and set about reviving the art of making them. Rag doll making is an art in that you are creating a figure entirely from cloth. I especially wanted to make dolls with sweet faces for little girls. I sold my dolls at craft shows in Okla, Missouri and Arkansas for several years doing business as Carmon's Cuties. In the mid 80's my marriage ended and so did my craft business. Unfortunatley my patterns and dolls, along with all my supplies were either lost or sold off.I have been beading since 1990. We also do other NA crafts. My husband and I set up at Powwows and Flea Markets to sell my crafts and Vintage Native American Jewelry. We also sell on Ebay. under the name of Wooleycreek. Recently while looking through some old photos, I ran
across pictures of some of my dolls. I fell in love with them all over again. I decided to try making one or two of my favorite rag dolls. A frantic search to replace some of my patterns began. Since some of the patterns are no longer available, I drew some from memory. Others were located on the internet.
I love needlecraft of all kinds, so you will find a blend
of various types of needlework in my store. Nothing is more relaxing to me than a need and thread!
You will find samples of my work in my gallery. The
Jewelry items are one of a kind and have all been sold. The doll pictures are on display as samples of my completed work, should you decide to place an order. However the dolls pictured have also been sold.
I am disabled and spend most of my time doing things I can sit at the table to work on. Beadwork and dolls help pass the time when I can't walk!
