I've been working with clay for over 30 years. It wasn't until my junior year in college that the love affair clicked. I guess I had the right teacher at the right time. Right off the bat I started making whimsical, brightly colored ceramic objects. I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in ceramics and then went on to work jobs that had nothing to do with art. I was able to continue my love affair with clay through night classes at the Ceramic League of Miami, all the while dreaming of one day ditching the day job and letting life take me where my passion was, clay. Finally six years ago the stars were all aligned properly and with a move to Tampa, I was able to set up my studio and get serious about having fun.
I love color, I'm inspired by nature, cats, fish, butterflies they all make their way into my work. All of my clay works are made by hand by me, either thrown on the potter's wheel or handbuilt or a combination of both. I use non-toxic clay as well as certified non-toxic glazes. These days with so many mass-produced imports that are loaded with lead or other toxins, it's important to know what you are buying and bringing into your home.
