Tech Updates Inauguration

Welcome to the Tech Updates portion of ArtDaily!

ArtFire is a Community Directed Development (CDD) platform. What that means is we take your thoughts, ideas and even issues and annoyances, and turn them into real life web applications. We tailor and tweak our site to work for you, the user. Who better to give the direction of features and functionality?

As a part of our CDD, you will see me in the forums answering questions and fixing bugs. As well as noting any new thoughts and ideas that you may have.

Since I have first hand knowledge of all the inner workings of ArtFire.com, it makes sense for me to be an engagement point for our users. I am better equipped to answer technical questions, and at times I can apply a fix or solution in real time.

At the same time it’s great for me to be able to see exactly what our users are experiencing. I find it much easier to locate and isolate site issues when I can communicate directly with the user that is having the problem. From there I can jump straight into the code and fix the issue with greater efficiency.

I have been a part of the ArtFire.com staff since the launch back in November. Its very refreshing to see such an active, heartwarming community. Since the start I have seen nothing but positive thoughts and advice towards other members as well as towards us. Your all really are a great community, as artisans and as web users.

I will be a big part of your community and the development of your community throughout the future, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Feel free to message me any time with feedback, bugs or anything that crosses your mind. Thank you all for the hard work you put into the community we are building for you.

The most recent items I have posted, within the last week, have had no views. This is very unusual what is going on.

I'd love to put Rapid Cart on my blogger page. Any Idea when it'll be up again? Thanks.

Still waiting on multi-level search function. Search using one parameter, and then search within that search. Very frustrating that this basic function is somehow disallowed. C'mon guys! Get with it!!! You want me to pay more? Fine, if you give me professional market research tools, I'll gladly pay more. If not.... I'll vanish along with all the other folks you will lose this month.

I looked at the "coming soon" artfire layout an dit works nicely with the screen reader from what I could briefly tell. I could not find a post on when it will roll out. Good job - and I posted earlier about the buttons (it was a "level 3" error and when I took my time with the screen reader I have been able to navigate for the most part. Thanks.

The post by Work of Our Hands resonated with me. I am familiar with how e-Bay allows photographs to be moved, centered, zoomed, etc. This is an add-on that would make Art-Fire truly competitive with not only sales sites but also eliminate the need for photograph software. Yes, I understand more than some that the programming logistics to such an add-on might be problematic depending on the size of your team. Where are you? I will come help, lol.

Some of my picture upload quickly and some just keep uploading. Is it the size of my pictures? I try to keep them all the same size. Also I can't seem to get my Google Feed to update it ran for almost and hour today and never did finish. I would also like to be able to move by pictures around on my items as I improve my picture taking techniques.

I am having no luck in ordering an item. I have selected the item to put in my cart, go to check out and even apply a coupon code. When I go to input my personal information - I type the info in (it does an auto-complete thing) - and then the info vanishes completely. I have tried this a half dozen times - the same thing happens every time. I have contacted the artisan, and she is not sure why this is happening. Any ideas?

Can you email me to advise on where the paid button is on sold items? I use a screen reader for th eblind and it takes me to the shipping type to fill in. THanks.

Hello, I have been unable to get any URL feeds. I am honestly not sure what I am doing with this portion of the web site. The Google Analytics instructions were as clear as mud to me. I've been up for a week but have had no luck. Please advise, luigispen

Have you seen how SMILE BOX lets you add photos? You can move them around in the frame to the part you want shown , and zoom in our out. Would that ever be nice on Artfire :)
