Google renames itself to Topeka (and other April Fools’ Jokes)
In honor of April Fools’ Day yesterday, the web was abuzz with jokes and pranks. Here at ArtFire we joined in the fun by having JimmyTheTerrorist, a vocal ArtFire celebrity, help us out with a guide to writing better blog titles. The original format of the guide in “Jimmy speak” will always be available in the help section of the forums. At the request of some of our members, we’ve also added a translated version of the guide below the original version.

We saw many, many other April Fools’ jokes across the web, ranging from Youtube’s silly option to watch videos as text (to save bandwidth) to the just plain cruel banner informing New Yorkers that In-N-Out would be opening a store in NYC. Google renamed itself (at least on its main search page) to Topeka; a tip of the hat to Topeka, Kansas, which renamed itself to Google, Kansas (for fun), to get the search engine’s attention after Google announced they was looking for locations to bring 1gigabit-per-second broadband internet. Fun was had by many, and we can all breathe a sigh of relief now that we can read an article on a trusted website and not wonder if it’s part of an elaborate joke.

SEO Questions Thread
Tony and I have been answering questions about SEO this week in a Community Directed Development category of the ArtFire forums. If you have questions or are just curious about SEO, head on over to the ArtFire forums and let us know what we can help you with. You don’t have to keep your questions strictly related to ArtFire, we’re more than happy to take a look at your personal website, blog, or any other commerce or non-commerce related site if you have a question related to it about SEO.

Stop on over and ask away, we’ll be checking in today and over the weekend. As always, if you have a question that you don’t feel comfortable asking in public you can feel free to email me at caleb@artfire.com and I’ll answer your question privately.

Thanks for letting us have some fun on April Fools’ Day and taking our joke in stride. Happy April!
