Please start by telling us a little about yourself and your studio.

Not Just Hats is now 1 year young and I have to say that I love waking up every morning and going to work; work being creating new crocheted and knitted items for the home as well as wearables.

What role does your family play in your art?

My inspiration came from my then 5 yr old step-daughter who needed a hat to wear and I didn’t have any little girl’s hats.  Needless to say, I whipped one up in about an hour and the rest is history.

Where do you live and what is it like?

I live in Southern New Jersey and I’ve been here most of my life, however, my husband and I are looking forward to retiring somewhere out in the Mid-west where there’s more snow and mountains than sand and heat.

Where did you learn your medium?

I learned to crochet when I was about 7 years old.  My Great Aunt taught me how to make my first afghan and I’ve been crafting ever since.

How did you come to find a home on ArtFire?

I recently joined ArtFire with the hopes of expanding my customers.  I’m fairly new here but am looking forward to working with a great community of friends

Why do you think that buying and selling handmade products benefits society?

I feel that making something with your own two hands has given me such a sense of inner peace.  It’s gotten to a point that friends and family can’t wait for a holiday or their birthdays because they know they will receive something handmade from me.

I am a Jersey Girl also, (now live in Phoenix) but always a Jersey Girl! You are bringing back a medium that seemed to have disappeared - so happy to see that! Your work is amazing!

I really like what you said in response to how handmade benefits society.... "Made with Love" has become such a verbal cliche, yet still what we all need, yes? :) Hugs, Chris :D

Ah - another Jersey girl. Though I've lived in Maine for 33 years - I'm still a Jersey girl at heart. Beautiful stuff you've got going on. Best of luck!
