Tech Updates Inauguration

Welcome to the Tech Updates portion of ArtDaily!

ArtFire is a Community Directed Development (CDD) platform. What that means is we take your thoughts, ideas and even issues and annoyances, and turn them into real life web applications. We tailor and tweak our site to work for you, the user. Who better to give the direction of features and functionality?

As a part of our CDD, you will see me in the forums answering questions and fixing bugs. As well as noting any new thoughts and ideas that you may have.

Since I have first hand knowledge of all the inner workings of ArtFire.com, it makes sense for me to be an engagement point for our users. I am better equipped to answer technical questions, and at times I can apply a fix or solution in real time.

At the same time it’s great for me to be able to see exactly what our users are experiencing. I find it much easier to locate and isolate site issues when I can communicate directly with the user that is having the problem. From there I can jump straight into the code and fix the issue with greater efficiency.

I have been a part of the ArtFire.com staff since the launch back in November. Its very refreshing to see such an active, heartwarming community. Since the start I have seen nothing but positive thoughts and advice towards other members as well as towards us. Your all really are a great community, as artisans and as web users.

I will be a big part of your community and the development of your community throughout the future, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Feel free to message me any time with feedback, bugs or anything that crosses your mind. Thank you all for the hard work you put into the community we are building for you.

Oh, LOOK! Some other folks are also saying the ETSY IMPORTER DOES NOT N O T WORK! What's up? No one gets back to me with the answers to my questions. and, no, P U L EEEEZE do NOT send me the SEO info to read again!

I had the same problem - uploaded 30 or so items using the uploaded - everything went thru, I checked the store - all looked right. Now a couple of days later all the new items are gone.

I've been "checking in" to my shop, daily. I also made some changed to my "Featured Items" yesterday. Today I signed in and it said I hadn't checked in for 2 days and my Featured Items were back to the old ones. Is there a glitch that's being fixed?

All is well now, thank goodness! The glitch is now fixed on all 3 browsers I use and I can upload photos from my computer to my shop with no problems. Yay!!

I'm having problems uploading images for the past 2 days. I don't have the software to use .csv format for Etsy although I've tried to use other things in it's place, it doesn't format correctly, so the new features are lost on me. However, the old way of uploading photos and listing new items not necessarily on Etsy or anywhere else now seems to be lost on me as well. I understand when something new rolls out there are sometimes minor problems or glitches. I'm hoping that's all there is to this too otherwise I'll have to cancel my account. What's the point of having an online shop if you can't add items to sell? I tested different things for a while. For instance I checked to see if it was my browser, Chrome, IE nor Firefox worked. Also checked the photos in questions but they are jpg's and the correct size recommendations. I'm stumped.

I have only been selling on Artfire for a few months. There needs to be MORE DETAILED explanations about special sales. I missed out totally on the Black Friday and Cyber Monday events in one aspect - I knew to tag my items for Artfire to include them in the special. BUT the instructions said there had to be a sale, coupon or free shipping. It did NOT say that I needed to click on one of the little banners to show that I had put a coupon on my items for free shipping. I had no idea to do this. I asked exactly how to participate by email to Artfire and also on the forum - no one answered. So I muddled through and only realized I did not have good advertising because of no banners when I noticed them on other listings LATE on Cyber Monday after being out of town from Wed till then. Sometimes it seems that Artfire is a bit cliquish when folks don;t even help someone on a forum. PLEASE put more detailed instructions for things for us newcomers......we really want to know what to do and to be successful.

When is the item importer going to be fixed? I'm trying to import my items from Etsy and it keeps saying that the item is not mine!! Frustration!!!!!!

The photographs of the items I am selling are chopped off. Other folks do not seem to have this problem. Any ideas? Thanks.

does artfire do print on demand (photos, paintings/reproductions, books, CD's, etc.)?

Is there a utility to download sales information in a .csv format? I need this to track sales data. Thank you.

Hello I'm wondering... how long is response time to emails sent to Artfire usually take? I sent an Email on Oct 19th with some questions. I have not gotten a response yet. That was 6 days ago. Just wondering what the usual time frame is. Thank You Visions By Vicki

Leaving Karma/Kudos is clear as mud. It's too many steps, too complicated for the basic buyer, seller, etc. Once it's paid in PayPal it should automatically show up as paid in the ArtFire seller's account. Also there should be a Feedback button on the Seller's home page or at least a prompt such as eBay has, telling you on your homepage that you need to leave feedback for # items. We live & die by feedback. Only 1 buyer in 20 has been able to leave me feedback. I truly like ArtFire, I want to see it leave Etsy in the dust, but ArtFire is not as streamlined, too chunky. I would love to see ArtFire as clean, smooth and effortless as Etsy.
