Setting Your Banner Posted On: 04/20/2011 Last Updated: 08/31/2011
What is your banner?
Your banner is a large image that shows at the top of your studio and item pages; because your banner shows on all of your studio pages it can be a great way to brand your business and let your customers know that they are still in your store even when they are looking at your bio, policies, blog, or other pages in your studio.
If you don't already have a banner ready, you'll need to get one before you can complete the banner step of the progress bar. There are many, many high quality stock and custom banners available from very skilled graphics designers in the ArtFire Marketplace; don't rule out buying a banner, it can be a great investment to give your studio a professional look.
If you don't have a banner and you don't want to buy one at this time, you can use our Simple Banner Guide.
Make sure the file you're uploading is exactly 1000x200 pixels in dimension. If you upload a size other than that your banner may end up distorted or won't load. Once you have a banner ready you can complete the steps below.
How to upload your studio banner:
Step 1) Go to your studio and click on the Themer. The Themer may automatically pop up, or it may be resting at the bottom of the page where you can click "Show Themer." If you do not see the Themer, click "Toggle Themer" in the "Theme" box on the right of your studio (underneath the "Find Me Online" box). The Themer allows you to customize your studio. Select the "Uploads" tab at the top of the Themer, and then click the "Upload New Banner" button.
Step 2) Browse to the file that you're going to use as your banner, select the file, and press "open."
If you're not happy with the banner you've uploaded or if you want to change it, all you need to do is upload a new banner which will replace the existing one; you do not need to delete your old banner before replacing it with a new one.
Step 1) You can also change your banner with just one click by going to your studio and clicking on the gray gear in the lower left part of your banner (only you will see this icon, your customers won't).
Step 2) After you click the icon a window will appear; just select your banner from where you saved it in your computer and you are done!
If you have complications, make sure that:
- Your banner image is exactly 1000x200 pixels in dimension
- Your banner should be saved as either a .jpg or .png, it should be smaller than 2mb
- Your using an up to date, standards compliant web browser (Firefox 4+, IE9, Safari5, or Chrome)
