Fusion Studios Guide Posted On: 04/27/2011 Last Updated: 08/30/2011

ArtFire's new Fusion Studios are a combination of a website and a marketplace storefront. Fusion studios allow sellers to completely customize their studios to make them unique and one-of-a-kind. Fusion Studios are like your own website, only with the traffic and security of an online marketplace.

You don't have to be a computer guru to customize your fusion studio, the controls are so easy to use anyone can do it! Just follow the steps outlined in this tutorial to get started!

How do I access my Fusion Studio?

Your ArtFire Fusion Studio is already live! Anyone navigating to your studio will now see your Fusion Studio. Go check it out for yourself!

Don't know how to check out your shop? Paste this formula - yourusername.artfire.com - into your browser's URL box and replace the "yourusername" with your actual ArtFire user name.

How do I make changes to my studio?

To make changes to your Fusion Studio, first navigate to your MyArtFire homepage (this can be done by clicking the MyArtFire link at the top of any page on the site as long as you are logged in). From here, click "Studio" tab on the top navigation of MyArtFire.

On the left hand side of the screen, you'll see your mini Fusion Studio Customization menu.

How do I change the colors of my Fusion Studio?

With ArtFire Fusion Studios, you can change the color design of your storefront to match your banner or set a particular theme. To change the colors of your studio, click on the "Studio Design" tab on the left. You will be taken back to your studio where you can adjust the colors using the Themer. The Themer will automatically pop up, or rest and the bottom of the page where you can click "Show Themer." If you do not see the Themer, click "Toggle Themer" in the "Theme" box on the right of your studio (underneath the "Find Me Online" box).

The Themer allows you to customize the colors of your studio as well as the font. If you hover over each option (Main Nav Color, Heafing Font Color, Seller Nav Color, Nav Font Color and Banner Bg Color) you will see that that specific area is highlighted, showing which area of your studio will change color. Click on each of them to set the colors of your studio with dozens of color options! Changing the font works in the same way, just click the Font tab and select the font you want by clicking on it. Be sure to click the "Save Theme" button in the lower right when you are done to save your choices.

Note: If you do not want the Themer to come up every time you visit your studio, simply click the "Toggle Themer" to hide it. The "Hide Themer tab in the Themer will only hide the Themer during that session.

What are my Layout Options?

You can also choose the number of columns for your studio in the Themer. You can decide to have three or four items per row by clicking on the option you prefer under the "Product Listing Columns" found below the color choices (see above). Don't forget to hit "Save Theme" when you are done. You can also arrange where items are on the page by clicking "Arrange My Studio."

Since our current preview located on the right hand side is not able to display column width changes, you'll have to preview your changes live in your studio to find the best option. Don't forget to hit the Save Layout button when you're finished!

Note : Basic members will not see the first and third options. The Picture Column Width will be automatically set to four.

What is Featured Studio Gallery?

"Featured Items" is a collection of up to four items from your inventory which will appear at the top of your studio at all times. You can choose to Enable or Disable your featured gallery at any time you wish. The gallery is good if you have special themed items for holidays or just want to show off your best work. (Note: These items will appear in your inventory as well as your featured gallery). Here, you can select any item in your studio to be part of your featured gallery. To choose your gallery, just go to the "Studio" tab at the top of your My ArtFire, and then to the "Featured Items" tab on the left.

In the screenshot below, the items within the red box show the featured gallery.

While you can decide to have up to four items in your featured gallery, it's generally best to choose the same number of items as your column displays, or else your studio could end up looking off balanced. Again, play around with this and find what works best for you, and don't forget to hit Save Gallery when you're done!

How do I make changes to my studio sections? (Pro Members Only)

If you want categories/sections in your studio, take a second to make sure they are enabled by going to the "Sections" tab on the left. From here, you can use the gray arrows to change the order and position of your categories within your studio. You can also choose to delete categories or add new ones. Again, since our preview is unable to display how your categories will appear in your studio, you'll have to check your studio to make sure you are satisfied with the way it looks.

What are my banner options?

You start out with the default green banner, but you can also upload your own banner, or one of the pre-made banners available in the Simple Banner Guide. If you choose to upload your own, your banner image should be is exactly 1000x200 pixels in dimension, and saved as either a .jpg or .png. It should be smaller than 2mb. Customizing your own banner is one of the largest changes you can make to your studio to style it to your exact brand and taste. You can upload your banner by clicking the "Uploads" tab in the Themer (see image below). You can also change your banner by clicking on the gray gear icon that appears on your banner in the lower left (this will not show up for your customers; only you can see it).

How do I change my avatar?

Your new avatar will need to be at least 140 X 140 pixels in size and square for best possible visualization. You can upload your avatar in the same way you do your banner. Either go to the Themer and click the "Uploads" tab and click "Upload New Avatar," or click on the gray gear in your avatar box. Once you upload an avatar it cannot be deleted, you will need to upload a new one to change it.

What is a widget and how do I add one?

A widget is a chunk of code which can be placed on your studio. Things such as Plurk feeds, Twitter feeds, and Etsy Minis are all examples of text, html, and flash widgets and can be inserted into your studio by copying the code and pasting it into the text box on the widget page.

A tag cloud is another type of widget, which can be auto-generated from the tags on your items. The tags you use most frequently will appear larger on the tag cloud, while the tags you use less will appear smaller. This way, shoppers browsing the page can click on one of your tags in your tag cloud and view items with those tags.

Note: You cannot edit tag clouds.

You can choose to have your widget displayed on the bottom of your page (below your inventory) or along the right hand side of the page (just below your categories, if they're enabled).

To remove, rearrange, or edit your widget, just click the "My Widgets" tab on the left when you are in the Studio section of your My ArtFire.

What is a Custom Gallery?

A custom gallery allows you to display sold items or custom pieces no longer listed for sale in your studio. This way, you can show off your work and the types of creations you've made so shoppers can request items or just get a feel for the type of products that you make.

In your custom gallery, you choose which items are displayed. These items will appear as a simple version of a listing, with the price (optional), up to four photos, and description. You can choose to add sold items from your ArtFire account or manually enter in items you might have sold elsewhere.

As you add items, you'll be able to preview your gallery along the right hand side of the screen. To delete any item from your custom gallery, just click the X REMOVE button on the preview.

This gallery is viewable on your Fusion Studio by clicking the Gallery tab below your banner, outlined in red in the screenshot below:

Has the item page changed too?

You bet! We've redesigned the item pages so that they'll match whatever theme you give your studio. While the layout might be different, the item page still contains all the same information, and even some additional links to help you build your brand. If you've already set up the design for your studio, your new item page should match the colors, so go check it out!

I still have more questions, where else can I look?
