The ArtFire Check-In System

The ArtFire Check-In system is designed so you can easily and efficiently check-in with your ArtFire shop. Regularly checking-in with your ArtFire shop is the best way to ensure no communication with your customers has been missed and that everything is running smoothly.

Why should I Check-In? What Does it do?

There are two main mechanics to the ArtFire Check-In System: a public display component which displays your last check-in date in your shop and a behind the scenes search relevancy factor which applies a search penalty to shops that haven't check-in in a while.

Public Last Check-In(optional) - Your most recent check-in will display publicly on your shop and item pages next to your avatar. The smallest amount of time displayed is "Today." Which means if you checked-in 6 hours ago, or if you checked-in 2 minutes ago; your check-in time displays as "Today." If you go consecutive days without checking in, "Today" will grow to "Yesterday," "Two Days Ago," and so on. Sellers on ArtFire have the option to turn off the public display of their last check-in via the Privacy Settings page found under the My Account tab.

All sellers are encouraged to both check-in regularly and display their last check-in in theiry shop. Regular ArtFire shoppers pay attention to a seller's last check-in and like knowing that the seller they're about to buy from has "Checked-In Today".

Behind the Scenes - Besides the optional public display, your last check-in is also taken into account as a factor in the on-site search engine. As long as your last check-in has been within the last seven days, your items maintain their maximum relevancy within the site index. If you haven't checked-in to your ArtFire shop for eight days or more your items will receive a penalty and be considered less relevant in on-site searchs. That penalty is magnified if you go thirty days without checking into your shop and increases signifigantly after the ninety day mark.

How Do I Check-In?

Checking-in is fast, easy, painless, and free. All you have to do is push the blue "Check-In" button located in the upper left corner of every page in your MyArtFire Control Panel. You only have to push the button once a day to keep your publically displayed check-in time as "Today".
