Handmade Trend: Yarn Pom Poms
These easy to make accents are popping up everywhere. You see them on DIY how to’s (and they are supposed to be really easy, I haven’t tried yet:). Bloggers like Honestly WTF have shown how you can create the yarn pom poms and how to use them. Like in the garland above. Yarn pom poms are being sold on handbags and backpacks in stores like Free People to Target. Plus, you can find them everywhere sold alone on handmade sites making easy for people like moi who won’t take the time to make them to be able to add these accents to items I already own. Prices range from $1-$40. People even sell them as garlands which would be great for decorating a kids room or a kids party. What a genius way to make money. Since they are supposed to be easy and yarn is inexpensive you could just pull in the cash. Or even just adding yarn pompoms to things you are already selling. Adding it to a hat, making a key chain, adding it as an “extra” to a handbag or backpack you already sell to make it new and on trend. I even saw people putting yarn pom poms as shoe clips! The options are endless. Just get creative and have fun with the trend. I saw a lot of soft colors for the yarn pom poms when I did the search on handmade sites which could work for baby shower events. But, what I’m seeing in the fashion world is strong, bold, and vibrant colors which I think translates better.
