It’s Miami Fashion Week
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Swim 2013 started yesterday (and runs until the 23rd) and it’s all about the swimsuits and the cover-ups for next year. I say, take some inspiration from the runway and use the trends for what you are wearing on your holidays now. Here are a few of the trends I’ve been noticing so far that are on my radar.
Yesterday’s shows started with a boom with Lisa Blue who took the runway around the world. From Grecian styling, Asian designs, Spanish ruffles and All-American ruffles. Each style made wearing a swimsuit so much more. The accessory that kept catching my eye was her headpieces that ranged from slightly understated to extravagant statement pieces. I think the idea of wearing a headpiece to the beach/pool makes a basic swimsuit more exciting. I usually see celebs like Rhianna and Beyonce doing something like that.
A majority of the designers showcasing at SWIM 2013 are unknown to me. Maybe because I don’t usually buy “designer” swimwear. But, also because the larger designer houses don’t show their swimwear in Miami. I guess they prefer showing during their Resort shows.
I have a friend who is attending the SWIM 2013 fashion shows (she’s a photographer) and she is telling me that the high waist bikini’s, which are very retro are everywhere. I’ve been watching that style for a few seasons now. Stores like Urban Outfitters occasionally has one or two styles like that. I really think it’s a style that is flattering on every body type and can’t wait to see how the styles from the MIAMI 2013 reflect on what we find at the chain stores next season. Would you wear high waisted bikini’s?
Enjoy watching the shows from the SWIM 2013 runways and get ready to be inspired! I’d say even the cover-ups are items to consider when trending for spring/summer 2013. Many women are starting to wear cover-ups as regular items in their wardrobe.
