Upcycle Household Items into Modern Jewelry Displays
by Jennifer Diana
Some household tools lose their spunk after awhile. Kitchen utensils become rusted, gardening tools break. With creative minds we often look upon these items and wonder how they could be repurposed. As someone who uses a crystal candy dish and old vases to hold my jewelry, I appreciate unique jewelry displays. These creative crafters have utilized everyday household items and turned them into colorful and decorative jewelry receptacles.
A cheesegrater is perfect for housing earrings.
Who would have thought, a rake to hold your necklaces? This is ingenious.
Of course I love a candy dish to hold rings.
With automatic ice machines, what do you do with all those ice cube trays? Turn them into a jewelry box of course.
This one may not be something you have around your house to re-purpose, but maybe in grandma’s attic. This creative crafter is using an antique rubber stamp holder to hold bracelets.
Old wooden hangers can easily be fitted with tiny hooks to display your favorite baubles.
A tennis racket shows how you can put your favorite sport and favorite jewelry on display.
We’ve all seen picture frames turned into jewelry displays. These ideas are something else! A coat of spray paint and a little creativity goes a long way to making the mundane extraordinary.

What creative, awesome ideas! Absolutely LOVE the cheese grater! I have to forward this to a friend who was looking for ways to display her earrings.
Some great ideas here. I use a recycled antique type case for my displays. It is great and frames each pair of earrings I make in a wonderful way. Great post here. Thanks
Great innovative ideas! I love the grater idea, and will probably be searching the junk boxes at next summer’s rummage sales. I already have to wooden hanger and hooks to get going on that one soon! Thanks for posting!! NMB
I was aware of a few of these ideas but the tennis racket & the cheese grater are genius!
i really like the cheese grater idea!
it might not be the most creative, but i use old glass bottles to hold necklaces/earrings by hanging the necklace inside and the earrings on the lip.
As a former tournament tennis player and lover of the game, I never thought of using my older racquets for storage. I LOVE this idea and will use it in my sewing room!
I love the idea of the rake to hold necklaces. I’m always looking for something different to display longer necklaces and the rake is perfect!
Awesome ideas! I love the ice cube trays for putting beads in…going to do that for sure. The tennis racket reminded me of a large dream catcher I have used for years to hang earrings on. Love all these creative ideas!
Jewellery may be made from a wide range of materials, but gemstones, precious metals, beads, and shells have been widely used. Depending on the culture and times jewellery may be appreciated as a status symbol, for its material properties, its patterns, or for meaningful symbols. Jewellery has been made to adorn nearly every body part, from hairpins to toe rings.’,-^
