With watercolor paintings, they are best kept away from strong light sources so the colors are not damaged. A varnish finish has been applied for protection. Here is another bookmark creation that is a combination of small format watercolor painting embellished with a leather tassel that is beaded with sterling silver and wooden beads and natural stones. Not just an ordinary bookmark here! This is an original watercolor pencil painting on cotton rag Lenox 100 paper acid free. To compliment the painting is a beaded leather cord of a deep rust color. It's been spliced back on itself at both ends to secure to the vinyl sleeve and the custom made matching glass pendant charm. At the end of the cord is a handmade glass charm of the horses head surrounded by a silver metal frame. The back of the glass charm reads "Texan Made 2009". In front of the horse charm is a complementary beading embellishment of four tiny wood heishi beads framing two sterling silver tube beads, on each end of the heishi is a silver colored tiny spacer bead and a round bead of a natural leopard skin jasper. The other end of the tassel that attaches to the sleeve embellishment has a repeat of the two sterling silver tube beads framed by three tiny wood heishi on each end. All beading is sewn with jewelry wire and glued for security. The painting is encased in a sturdy vinyl sleeve and the painting is removable from the sleeve but the tassel is permanently attached. Paper used is a cotton rag Lenox 100 (wet media multi purpose paper that I love using!) The lovely handmade glass charm is made by fellow Texas artisian Brenda Wampler of brendawampler.etsy.com . I call this one Faux Black because I did not use any black paint/pencil color in creating this painting! I think the color harmony here creates a very vibriant tone. The painting size is a small format size, 4.25" x 5.75" freestyle design (no reference other than my minds eye!), done with artist grade watercolor pencils on 90 lb watercolor paper. A light fixative was applied to help keep the painting's colors lightfast. Because of the non standard size of the painting, I decided to custom matt to make it easier for display or frame. I handcut the matts using some fabulous handmade non-wood paper I found! The top mat is a light brown faux leather textured paper and the inner mat is a white linen like texture. The structure is backed with a stiff black matt board. I used a non-permanent tape to attatch the painting and mat to the board so the mat can be removed if someone so desires. The size of the matted painting is approx. 7" x 9.5". While I try to be as tech savvy as I can, please note that watercolors are notorouisly hard to repoduce digitally and the colors in real life have much more depth. Thank you for considering this. Here is another bookmark creation that is a combination of small format watercolor painting embellished with a leather tassel that is beaded with lovely natural stones. Not just an ordinary bookmark here! The painting is an original watercolor pencil, not a print. To complement this painting, the beaded tassel is made from a natural color leather cord, and coordinating natural stones. The front of the tassel, attached to the vinyl sleeve has one bead of natural Kingman turquoise surrounded by tiny pipeshell heishi beads and on each side of the pipeshell are two heishi beads of purple spiney oyster and orange spiney oyster. The end of the tassel had a wonderful silver color horse head in heart charm, complemented with another Kingman turquoise bead, bordered by two real silver plated beads and then on both sides of the silver beads, two natural red spiney oyster beads. All the beads are sewn on the leather with wire and then glued for added strength. The painting is encased in a sturdy vinyl sleeve and the painting is removable from the sleeve but the tassel is permanently attached. Paper used is a cotton rag Lenox 100 (wet media multi purpose paper that I love using!) Artwork and design is copyrighted. Next are the embellishments of beige/gold satin ribbon trim framing the painting and the four gold cord bindings. Each binding cord is tied in a small bow and accented with a small, square, tan natural mother of pearl shell bead. The front and back cover are made from a tan silk threaded handmade paper, you can easily see the silk threads throughout. Inside of the front cover the ribbon has enough slack to store a pen if needed. The cover pages are heavy art card stock covered front with the tan silk handmade paper and inside with a linen type canvas paper. Inside the book are the organizer pocket pages. I hand cut and measured, glued each pocket page, 10 in all. The paper is white 70 lb drawing paper. Each page will hold several standard size business cards if desired, with enough room to make notes about the business. I've included a pic of a sample page with some business cards to give an idea.
