They are fired in a kiln, polished for smoothness, oxidized to create depth and texture, and then hand polished for shine. They are 12mm or 1/2" in diameter. The posts and back are sterling silver. They will be carefully packed in an adorable little metal flower tin which will be shipped inside a padded mailer.
