The fringe has sea urchin quills on it and the handle is covered in peyote stitch. It has a sandy tigers eye cabochon surrounded with beadwork on it. This piece has been sitting around my house for long enough, and it, honestly, a little dusty. It could use a good cleaning, but will be send as-is. Lampwork or flamework is the term used to describe glass beads made by melting glass with a torch and wrapping it around a steel rod. The techniques used to form and festoon the glass havent changed much since the first core formed vessels made in ancient Egypt.Annealing is the process an artist uses to slowly cool the glass bead to ensure strength and durability and to keep the bead from sudden thermal shock. Fringe is about 2" at longest point. Made of jewelers brass, Czech glass and handmade boro lampwork. This project was designed in two major steps. First, the spiral beadwork was worked around a core I strung on flexwire. Later, the fringe was added with the metal drops. It is waiting for your own beaded design. Nearly 46.3mm long, this looks like three beads, but is actually a single one. Looks almost life sized on my screen. Made of sode-lime "soft" glass. Very bright coloring. Beads vary a little in size and shape since they are all individually made. Some parts are sculptural and therefore thicker or raised. My beads are annealed in a digitally controlled kiln for lasting durability. Pictures were taken in a table top photo studio and the bead has been enlarged to show details.
