They are made by placing leaves, flowers, and(or) thin foam sheet cutouts (for butterflies or hummingbirds) onto freshly painted cotton fabric, while the paint is still wet, and placed in the sun to dry. The combination of sun and humidity affect the speed at which the paint dries. If conditions are ideal, the color moves from under the leaf or flower, resulting in the sunprint. I hand stitched beads and stone chips to add more interest. There is also a tiny butterfly flitting there. Lavender painted canvas and a deep purple batik accent the photo and rocky section. The piece is bound with a very fuzzy, nubby yarn. The quilting is done with clear thread accenting the flower and other areas, with a variegated thread adding to the rocky texture. There are also beads stitched in the flower center and also some adding interest to the deep purple areas.This is another One-Of-A-Kind piece that can never be reproduced. It would make a great addition to a nature lover's collection. It can be displayed by mounting to a mat board, then framing, or mounting it to a stretched artist canvas, or just as it is.This little quilt has no hanging system added to the back. If you wish, I can add corner hanging triangles that will hold a dowel, allowing it to hang on a picture hook.
