The Common Good program is a collaborative effort between ArtFire.com and major craft suppliers to promote handmade artisan goods and reach a large crafting audience. As Common Good partners we work together to support independent artisans by providing the tools, supplies, marketplace, and customer service needed to be successful.
Customers of our Common Good partners are offered the opportunity to sell their finished work online via this joint effort. ArtFire.com members can also choose to be affiliated with any one of our Common Good partners. Members who participate in the Common Good program are rewarded with special deals and offers from our partners and given exclusive promotional opportunities available via each partner's public gallery.
SELLING QUESTIONS
What can I Sell - is it juried?
ArtFire.com is not a juried site. We believe committees should not be limiting artistic expression or creativity. Your creativity is unique and varied. There are shoppers who want to buy nearly everything ever listed, we let the shoppers decide what they love not other artists trying to limit participation. ArtFire.com does have some limitations. For the full list of prohibited items you can click here. Artisans on ArtFire.com can list handmade, fine art, design, media, vintage, antiques and supplies on artfire.com. If it involves the creation of or final product of a creative process or is an object of aesthetic beauty or collectible value it can probably be listed in one of our categories. We do insist that handmade and fine art items are listed by the artist who created them. We would rather artists be paid than resellers.
Do any of the tools cost extra, or are they included in the Pro Membership?
Every single tool that is on ArtFire today and every tool we develop in the future is included in the same low flat fee membership of the Pro seller account. There are no additional fees for any of the tools or any of the future tools. You pay the same amount every month even if we add more tools or you sell more items.
You don't charge any fees, but do you take a commission on sales?
There is no commission for any item sale on any account on ArtFire. When you sell an item, we do not collect anything.
How many items can I list?
All members on ArtFire (both Basic and Pro level accounts) can list and sell an unlimited number of items with no fees.
What are the checkout options I can have in my studio?
You can quickly add all of the payment forms common to online marketplaces. ArtFire.com is Partnered with Paypal, Google Checkout and Amazon Payments. Will you teach me how to start my online studio?
Yes- we have hundreds of pages of help guides and step-by step instructions with pictures and screenshots to help you start your business, photograph your product, research and engage in search engine optimizing your product, promote your product with social media and jump start your success.
I'm not very experienced with computers, how hard is it to list something for sale?
We have all levels of sellers on ArtFire.com. Our youngest seller is not yet 10 years old and works with her mom to sell her crafts, and our oldest is in her late eighties. Our system has a lot of features, but we work hard to make them easy. For example, we offer drag and drop systems and simple button clicks to change color and layouts for your studio. We have help guides, forums, Twitter, Facebook and email support to help you if you get stuck. This is one of the easiest marketplaces to launch your business on.
I don't know how to code or use HTML, is this a problem?
You don’t need to know anything about web code here. All of the code work is handled for you and the customization is drag, drop, click and select. You can control colors, layout and order of items all with a few mouse clicks. We handle the coding.
How many item pictures can we have on each listing?
Basic accounts can have 4 pictures per listing for absolutely free. Pro members can have up to 10 images per listing.
Can I combine handmade / vintage / supplies items in one store?
Yes – it is your store and you can sell any items in combination that work for your business as long as they are items that can be listed on ArtFire.com.
How do you help get my items "out there"?
We use search engine optimization to get your items higher in Google searches than you could get them on your own. We also have buyer emails, social media promotion and other viral tools that help propel items into better positions of exposure on ArtFire.com. Our artisans regularly receive wholesale requests and even interest from television and movie production companies as well as magazine and newspaper reporters.
Is there a community spirit?
ArtFire is full of many smaller artisan groups and communities as well as a larger artisan community. Our chatterbox forums are a great place to share in this community and to share your work, questions, ideas and concerns with the ArtFire artisans who make up this marketplace.
Am I tied into a contract?
NO – you can downgrade your account at anytime. We only ask that you do it 3 business days before your renewal so we can have our team process it. There is no contract. You are in complete control of your pro studio and can downgrade by clicking on a link on your "My ArtFire" control panel and confirming your username and password.
