In case you were dying to know, fused glass is the thoughtful art of cutting and fitting pieces of compatible art glass together and then firing them at very high temperatures (upwards to 1350 degrees) in my home kiln.

I love to use DICHROIC glass (pronounced Dye-Cro-Ick) because it adds amazing depth of color and sparkle. The fantastic colors are created though a process called "thin film physics" where 15-45 layers of metallic oxides are heated in a vacuum chamber at very high temps. They are then vaporized and deposited on the surface of the glass. And get this, it was first developed by NASA to use on their space suits!!!
