I Heart My Customers

 image

I made this dress as a custom order for a client and received the most wonderful feedback that I just had to share it, especially for my fellow Art Fire artisans who, I am sure, will understand the warm feeling one receives when they have worked so diligently on an item and have their customer be so happy about it.  This item was sold in my Etsy study, the comments can be found in the feedback section.   This was more special to me than the actual sale.

Comment From Date Image Item positive What a perfect gift for any little girl. It sparkles, glitters, dangles, and has the perfect Little Mermaid charm to match the dress I ordered. If this doesn’t make me the perfect Aunt… Thank you again for such quality work and a very reasonable price. 11/01/2009 Disney Ariel - The Little Mermaid Ocean Grotto Dangle Bracelet Disney Ariel - The Little Mermaid Ocean Grotto Dangle Bracelet

positive I am stunned! I received a Little Mermaid dress in the mail along with an unexpected gift to match. It arrived beautifully packaged and in a very timely manner. The lace, tiny pearls, and buttons really made the dress perfect. I just loved how you designed the dress to capture the beauty of the material. You can't find that kind of detail, especially for such a reasonable price, at the local department stores! It will be so exciting for my niece to have a handmade and one-of-a-kind dress to wear. It was obvious there was a lot of love put into your work. Thank you for making my niece's Christmas dreams come true!

Decisions, decisions, decisions

image

Well, in my last posting I mentioned the fabulous yarn I found that matched my fabric so well, I had to purchase it and I was not certain how to incorporate it into the design, originally I was going to either trim the sleeves with a ruffled crochet design or make some type of floral embellishment for the top portion of the peasant top; however, upon working on the garment, I decided neither of those options would give me the end result I wanted, but I wrapped the yarn around the waist of viola! There is was.  I wanted to add beading into the belt/scarf design and love how it came out as a nice slim tie.  I liked it so much I decided to offer it as a separate item in the shop.   Hopefully whoever selects this design will also decide to acquire the belt as the whole ensemble works so well together.

Off to finish the top, then onto the lounge pants.  Thanks for stopping by.

Thanksgiving / Autumn Peasant Top and Lounge Pants

I put together these wonderful fall colors for design that I have been thinking about for some time now. No pattern for this one, I am just winging it.  I fell in love with the yarn, but not sure how I am going to incorporate it into the design just yet.  We will see what happens as it transpires! Wish me luck and come back to see the progress.

My Workspace

image

Hello there!  Thought you might like to take a peek at my work space.  I really enjoy this area and have tried to make it as cozy as possible since  I do spend the majority of my day here (my office space is set up on the adjacent portion of the room).  I have plenty of natural light, which is great, and some wonderful storage spots for my fabric, notions, patterns, beads, wiring, etc.  Above is the main workspace area.

Also, below, I have an this piece of furniture which is where I layout, on the top shelf, in order of priority, my projects; the bottom shelf is where my 3-year-old granddaughter stores her scraps of fabric and other "projects."  Below the glass enclosed shelves are 2 large drawers, one is mine which holds more patterns, tracing paper, ribbons, fabric paint, and other supplies.  The second drawer, of course, belongs to my granddaughter for her "art and cooking/tea supplies" and whatever else she can fit in there.

Below is a photo of my main work horses, my sewing machine and serger.  Love them both, but I am hoping to get a new sewing machine at the beginning of next year.  I purchased my serger from HSN, here is a link in case you would like to see a video on the serger.

Well, thanks for visiting, stop over for coffee and a chat in the morning!!

Custom order completed

image

Project complete! This was a fun order to work on, especially coordinating all of the fabrics  and accessories.  This pattern is a favorite of ours so hopefully the client will love it as well.  My granddaughter loves to twirl in her dress like this. I really like the back view of the garment as well.

Now, the only thing left is the surprise gift I am making for this client; then out the package will go, priority mail, on Monday.  Look for this garment and matching accessory to be available in my shop soon.
