springtime at the lake

Robins, Red-winged blackbirds, swans, and Canada geese are in abundance in my part of the country.  Spring has definately sprung.

Mother's Day soaps

Mother's Day will be here before we know it. I am fortunate to have an abundant supply of rose oil. A gift from a family member that continues to keep on giving. I purchaced some inexpensive long stem rose molds and have been experimenting with them. Basically, they are flat molds that only make one half of a rose. I really didn't like that presentation, so my experimentation was started. I am very glad to report that it was a success. I now have rose soaps that look like roses.  After a bit of refining and molding I will offer them for sale.
This has been an interesting  experiment. Glad to see that I haven't lost the desire, or the talent. Stay tuned.

Return after a family issue

Almost four weeks have passed since my last post.  Concentration has been difficult, but, I think I am back.
Several of my glycerin based melt and pour soaps will be going on sale in the very near future.  I find that I am totally sold on homemade cold processed soap and that very little of the melt and pour variety will be offered in the future.  I will be able to do any special orders of my loyal customers at my home base, as they expect it.
The use of vegetable oils for vegan bars will be maintained.  Some botanicals and clays will be included.  I will continue using beef tallow, deer tallow and lard, as well as emu oil to produce that very hard and very cleansing bar of soap that other loyal customers expect.
Special orders of lotions and creams are available, but, will not be offering them on Artfire.
Please continue to look for changes to my store as time passes.  Enjoy handmade, it is better for all of us.

Soaping, surviving winter and anticipating spring.

The last of January, more winter to come. All I  want right now is for the ice in the lake to melt.  Not "gonna" happen, yet!  This beautiful swan was photographed one early spring in the cove near my house.  I am anxious for them to be back.  We have temps near zero tonight, BRRRR!!!!
In the past couple of weeks, I have prepared two cold-processed soaps. One with bentonite clay and lanolin, to help the razor glide over the skin; and one with beef and deer tallow and sustainable palm kernel oil.  As I said before, I try to make "vegan bars', but, nothing can beat animal fats for giving you a bar of soap that will last.  The first soap has a fresh water fragrance and the other is a combo of Patchouli and apple/pear fragrance.  Both smell great.
I am going to be making a batch of goat's milk vegan soap in the near future.  With over forty different essential and fragrance oils available to  me, the choice of scent can be frustrating.
Craft fair season will soon be upon us.  And that means spring. I can hardly wait.

A New Year

It is a new year and a leaner year here in my state.  We are going to be more aware and keener in our business affairs.  We will continue to offer the finest soaps and lotions that we can, but, you will see a more in depth effort to make our product known to the world.  We will be introducing world exposure in the very near future and hope to present a quality product.  We have acquired many new and interesting fans on Facebook and will hope to continue opening that market.  Be assured that we will still be available to our fans stateside, but, the world market is in front of us....Wish us luck.  Silver Palace Soaps & Sundries
