Two Artisan Sisters Now Also Located on Zibbet

Just want to let you know about our new studio  now located on Zibbet! Right now we are busy listing patterns not only here on Artfire but also in our Zibbet studio.  We DO NOT double list, so the items on each site are strictly unique.  If you have been searching through our patterns here on Artfire and can not find what you are looking for just click the link below or the " Find Me On Zibbet" button on the sidebar and it will take you to our Zibbet studio where you can continue your search.  If you do not locate the pattern that you are looking for on either site just send us a message with the pattern information and we will be happy to check our files and see if we have it in stock.  We have several thousand patterns that are not yet listed and it is going to be some time before they all are listed so, please just contact us with the pattern numbers you are needing.

We are always message friendly and willing to help. Thanks for taking the time to visit our studio and to read our blog entries, we very much appreciate your interest.

Care Instructions for Vintage Scarves

Care Instructions for Vintage Scarves:

Pure silk is a beautiful and valuable natural material with a wonderful luxurious feel to it. Care of your silk scarf should be handled with love and care. When not wearing it, you should fold it without creasing it and store it in a box wrapped in tissue paper. You can also hang it over a padded hanger. If your silk scarf is wrinkled you can always iron it. When ironing the scarf use the lowest heat setting of your iron (one on the scale). When ironing be sure not to iron the rolled hem edges as that will flatten the delicate roll on the hem. Silk can be cleaned by hand washing with cold or lukewarm water using mild soap, baby shampoo is what is recommended.

Putting herb sachets in the drawer where you keep your scarves, will keep the silk scarves fresh with light fragrance. Repeated washing can damage the fibers of any clothing item … especially vintage. To keep your scarves in good condition wash them as little as possible.

Dry cleaner cloths are a great for home washing care. One cloth can clean up to six items. Don’t wash fabrics such as rayon, some silks, pure wool, satin, acetate, taffeta and lace.

Regardless of the wash care instructions on very old vintage items, washing or dry cleaning them, especially when it comes to silk, can be very harmful to their delicate fabrics. Try to resist the temptation of wearing a scarf two days in a row as  airing allows the garment's fibers to breathe and restores it for the next wearing.
