Memory Quilts and Art Quilts
Did you know you can have an original quilt or wall hangings created from your photos, memories, old tshirts, baby clothing or anything made of fabric?
There are many types of memory quilts or photo quilts being made these days. I've been making pictoral wall hangings for over 12 years. Some are collage style, some are a combination of several photos. My own style varies from folk-art to photographic. And with all the ways to transfer photos directly to fabric, the possibilities are endless!
Tshirt quilts have become very popular, too. I enjoy making quilts or wall hangings from other types of clothing, too. Photographic transfers can be included to create a wonderful, memorable work of art you can snuggle with!
I would rather work on a commissioned project than anything else---I love being given a "project"--a creative challenge---to see what kind of wonderful creation I can come up with!

New Ideas
In looking over my Google Analytics, I have found that more people have come to my studio looking for quilted wall hangings, picture quilts, etc. this surprises me, but I suspect that there are fewer results for that search than for clothing or handbags. And when I'm honest with myself, I know making pictures with fabric is my favorite thing to do! So I'm considering what direction I want to go.
Personally, I browse the internet a lot for ideas, not for things to buy, and I suspect many other "art quilt" lovers do, too. I'm wondering who those people are that google terms like "quilted picture" or "sunrise quilt". Are those people looking for ideas, patterns, or something to buy? Well, I'm going to attempt to answer that question for myself by creating some new products. I'm going to make a few small-ish picture wall hangings to sell. I'm also going to create some patterns for some wall hangings. Then we'll see what the response is! I have more ideas, too.......for another day!

Sewing for Me!
The Christmas crunch is FINALLy over and I'm taking a break and doing some sewing for myself! I haee been wanting to wear more of my own creations featuring my vintage fabrics and trims. I love my pattern designing software, but I just caught a great sale on Vogue (and other) patterns so I purchased a few jacket patterns that were more complicated than I felt like doing on the computer.
The first jacket I'm making has an asymetrical hem (long and angular in the back---nice "rear coverage!") interesting darts and a contrasting panel revealed when the front collar is folded back. I have just enough of my brown and turquoise barkcloth left to make that panel, and I'm using a dark turquoise finewale corduroy for the jacket. I think the corduroy wale will make an interesting linear contrast to the lines of the jacket. And the 2-button closure offers an opportunity to use some interesting buttons---perhaps I'll paint some!
I'll post a picture when I get the jacket finished!
