Gemologist's License

In order to increase my knowledge and level of professionalism I've decided to begin studying for my gemologist's license.  Last week I officially joined the International Gem Society  (IGS) and they offer an internet, self study course which is recogized as second only to the Gemological Institute of America; which is considered the industry standard for career gemologists.

According to IGS;
"What our certification tells a customer, or potential employer, is that the holder has proven their knowledge of gemology: that they are versed in its terminology, the properties of gems, how they are valued, and that they possess the skills and knowledge to distinguish one gem from another."  The passing grade for the IGS exams are 87% so they take their licensing very seriously.

I'm excited to be starting this new aspect of my life, career and business and I'm pleased to be able to some day offer my knowledge and expertise in gemology to my present and future customers.

Vintaj

Why do I love Vintaj the company and the product?  Read about the company-

and their product:

Find your creative inspiration in Vintaj® 100%
natural brass findings, filigree, beads, charms and
chain. No matter what your style, your beads will take
on a whole new dimension with these artful elements.
• A rich, distinctive color (identical to vintage brass),
intricate detail, fine-lined etching, and bold, raisedrelief
design are just a few qualities of these unique
findings.
• We hand embellish each and every finding to achieve
their rich quality before they reach your hands.
• Due to the careful, hand process used on each Vintaj
piece, every finding has its own unique color and luster.
It is the subtle differences in color that give our findings
such depth and dimension.
• Our process is eco-friendly, enhancing the natural
beauty of the brass, and is safe for your treasured
beads.
• Vintaj products are not antique plated or chemically
treated. They are nickel free and lead-free compliant.
• A mild soap and water rinse is all that is necessary for
product care.
• For a rich, brilliant luster we recommend MAAS Metal
Polishing Crème. To achieve this added brilliance or to
highlight raised relief areas, simply “wipe on and wipe off.”
• For an added protection, we recommend Renaissance
Wax. It forms a durable, lustrous protective coating which
guards against humidity, heat, dust and ordinary wear.
