New Series! Riveted
I started a new series recently. I wanted to find a way to use more of my metalsmithing tools and materials in my glass, and I love the idea of personalizing jewelry. I have tried for awhile to find a good way to do it in glass alone, and couldn't find one that worked as well as I wanted, or gave me enough control in what I wanted the piece to "say." So I started working on a way to do it with fine silver, and this is the result. I love riveting, and I like how it can look a little steampunk, or a little rustic. This necklace is one of the first I have made. I look forward to making custom ones with names, important dates, or whatever the buyer wants to say on a piece. The lentil shape of the focal is perfect for this, so much room for the silver as well as still room to have some bead design when I am creating in glass. Indeed, it is a challenge in the glasswork to have a large section I know is going to be hidden under the silver, but I am having a great time.
These are very time consuming, but worth it, to finally have a marriage of metal in glass in my own style! I hope you like them!
