A new year
Here we are in 2010, which sounds silly. Not like a real year – like 1965, for instance. It's too much like that song..."In the year 2525, if man is still alive, if woman can survive..." Pure science fiction.
So where is my flying car? That funky 23-year-old Subaru wagon does NOT fly.
I'm planning another year of making some glass pendants, maybe entering some art shows, keeping up with the six dogs and working on my 100-year-old bungalow, which could use it.
I hope for health, prosperity (or at least solvency) and happiness for me and for you. And peace on Earth.
Here's to 2010!

First pocket pet pendant - a wee hedgehog
He's so cute! I can see why people keep pygmy hedgehogs as pets.
He's the first of my new batch of pocket pets to go up on ArtFire. I do have a chameleon and a rat in my Etsy shop, and plan to do some serious posting here and there and DaWanda in the next few days. Let me know if you are looking for a particular sort of creature, and I'll see what I can do. Thanks for stopping by!

Pocket pet pendants
My grown kid has two new pet rats, the naked kind. They aren't pretty, but are kind of appealing with their naked expressive faces and tiny clever hands.
So I've got some new pendants in the works, with images of rats (naked and furred), guinea pigs (who always remind me of Hugh Laurie with that dramatic groove between nose and mouth), ferrets, chinchillas and hedgehogs. Check back to have a look! I have a tiny kiln, so it takes me a few days to complete a batch of pendants. (Most of them are fired twice, some three times.) And I have a full-time job and one night class, so that slows me down a bit.
And I've had some requests for Christmas ornaments with animals, so check back to see those, too. I'll post some pics when I have them done. :)

A Blogging Newbie
I've never been a blogger. I'm too shy. And why would you, whoever you are, be interested in what yanks my chain from day today? And besides, I read a social-networking column that advised people to post helpful info, not just what they were having for lunch. "Contribute something useful." Huh. I think that piece of advice had a chilling effect.
So now I have blogfright. (That's like stage fright, but without roadies.) But I guess I could try since ArtFire has made it so easy. If I become a crazed self-indulgent egomaniac, blame them.
So here goes.
Um... hi there (nervous grin).
My name is Su and I make glass stuff (waves). I hope you find this blog slightly helpful from time to time. Um... so what do you need help with lately?
Did you know Leonardo DaVinci invented scissors?
OK, that was a little scary and I have to go sit quietly for a while. Talk to you later.
