Tucson Arts Brigade brought their 2014 Edible Art Gala to Maker House, where the guests were encouraged to gorge on the simply gorgeous food provided by Bavier’s Bakery, Blu – A Wine and Cheese Stop, Bunz in the Oven Bakery, Casino Del Sol Resort, Jupiter’s Dream Chocolate, One World Cuisine and Pima Community College CTD Culinary Students. Each culinary organization competed for the tastiest and most visually stunning plates and the fun didn’t stop there, celebrity MC, Monica Warhol hosted an art inspired fashion show and the silent art auction raised money for the Tucson Arts Brigade’s community enrichment projects. Even with a crowd of over 250 guests, food and drinks were plentiful and have never looked so scrumptious. Music filled the space and art was all around, black and white art by Danny Martin and Wil Taylor was featured in the main salon while guests bid on their favorite art pieces for a wonderful cause in the silent auction. Aspiring artists and curators discussed the importance of art education and how we can support this by vocalizing how art has impacted our lives and how it is essential to the world around us. The Tucson Arts Brigade (TAB) will use the donations raised from this event to facilitate dialogue within the community to address real issues and offer arts based solutions. A prime example is their work with teens who have been placed on probation for grafitti. TAB teaches the teens how to channel their artistic abilities through commissioned public art murals and provides emotional support and job training to set them on a more positive path.Who knew art could be so delicious?
