Plants often bring life to a room, since they add color to your house and provide your home with additional oxygen.

However, if you do not have a green thumb, keeping your houseplants alive might prove to be quite the challenge, which is why here are some of the best and easiest plants to grow indoors, so anyone can have some green in their life.

One plant that always comes to mind when you think about easy-to-grow house plants is snake plant. Since snake plants actually are succulents, they are able to not only withstand different conditions, but will also do great even if you neglect them. Place them anywhere you want, be it in a shadowy corner or under T5 grow lights, water them once in a while and these plants will be happy to grow.

Rubber Tree

Another plant, which although isn’t a succulent, will still do great even if you forget about it for a while, is the so called Rubber Tree. These plants look great thanks to their dark green, shiny leaves and will add that pop of green to your house. Just make sure that you don’t get the white sap that forms when the tree is injured on your skin, as some people say it irritates their skin.

Jade Plant

For those who have a problem with remembering to water their plants, Jade Plant or money plant as many call it is the perfect choice, since as long as the plant has light, it can survive without water for long periods of time. It is even recommended that you keep the soil of Jade plants pretty dry, since these plants are succulents and thrive in dry conditions. So grow your own Jade Plant, and you won’t have to worry about forgetting to water them any more.

Peace Lily

If you want a blooming plant in your house but still are worried that you won’t be able to take care of it properly, then Peace Lily might be up your alley. These plants that bloom into beautiful, white flowers can easily be grown in low-light conditions and also don’t require a lot of water. On top of that, Peace Lilies are famous for being able to eradicate different chemicals from the air, so they are not only beautiful but helpful to have growing in your home. However, make sure that your plants are out of reach of children and pets, as they are poisonous to eat.

Christmas Cactus

And lastly another blooming plant that is easy to take care of and will continue growing even if you forget that you had a plant in your house is the Christmas Cactus. As long as you keep the plant in a bright, sunny and fairly cool place like your windowsill in the autumn and winter and give it water once in awhile, it will feel good and will show its exotic looking flowers around Thanksgiving or Christmas.

  • For a while a big trend was to put a peace lily in a large vase with a goldfish. I can’t understand why you say they don’t like to be overwatered. Mine will droop terribly if I forget to water it. PS fertilizer in the watering can will make it bloom.
