My name is Kathi and Kathisewnsew’s Boutique is the shop where I sell my handmade goods.
I create beautiful handmade accessories for women with a bohemian style.
Sewing has always been a part of my life, but it was 6 years ago when I started selling my creations. It started with a few purses and tote bags and then I started experimenting with jewelry. I love having this creative part of my life and sharing it here on ArtFire.
I live in a small town a few hours north of San Francisco, California. I am blessed to be surrounded by beauty and nature. From my desk as I look through the window I can see the lake in the distance and trees so close I can almost touch them. I look out my windows in my sewing studio and I see mountains filled with trees and vineyards.

I make a variety of bags such as shoulder bags, cross-body bags, pretty clutch purses, denim tote bags. Some of my bags have an artistic feel to them, I feel that they are my art work.
I learned basic sewing up to pattern drafting and design throughout high school. Crochet and hand embroidery I learned from my mom, she was always creating beautiful treasures for her family. As an adult I learned more tips and techniques for crochet and embroidery through books and online tutorials. I am self taught on making beaded jewelry. I love to use some or all of these skills in the purses and tote bags I make.
I make all of the items in my shop from the one of a kind purses to my pretty pear pincushions. I’m the one that answers the questions, packs the orders, writes product descriptions and takes the pictures for my items. I have been doing this for 5-1/2 years and I still love starting my day by checking into my shop, checking the emails, answering questions and then start working on my current project.

Although most of my shop is handmade items, I do have a section in my shop for vintage books. I have a bit of a collection. It started from books I had collected as a kid and then I added to them with books from my mom, and two of my grandmother’s.
I have a book shelf filled with the books I have kept for myself and then I have some bookshelves filled with the vintage books that are in my shop and a couple more filled with more vintage books to add to my shop.
How do I get my work seen? I work on having good descriptions with relevant keywords so that the search engines can find my items. I share my new products on Google+, Pinterest, and Twitter. I also have a blog that I share things about me and the handmade items I make and to direct people to my shop.
