S’mores are a quintessential summertime treat. But your creative sweet tooth doesn’t have to be stifled by three classic ingredients.
If you are not a fan of graham crackers, or maybe you have a gluten intolerance, apples s’mores are a fun alternative their traditional counterpart. Simply replace the graham crackers from a classic s’more with apple slices.
If you aren’t big on campfires, or if the weather is not cooperating, you can try a s’more dip. Simply layer a bag of chocolate chips on the bottom of a dish and then cover them with marshmallows. Pop it in the oven until the chocolate melts and the marshmallows are golden. Then use graham crackers to scoop up the gooey goodness.
Peanut Butter-Nutella-Banana S’more
Sure to become one of your favorite camping recipes, this is a must try. You will need peanut butter cookies (preferably homemade), Nutella, banana slices, and marshmallows. Smooth Nutella on two cookie bottoms, then put a couple banana slices on one side. Toast your marshmallow and sandwich them together. Bon appetit!
If you are looking for something new and exciting to try, how about Campfire Cones? You fill a waffle cone with miniature marshmallows, chocolate chips, berries, bananas, Rolos, and anything else your heart desires, and then wrap it all up in foil. Set the foil packet (upright) on the edge of the fire and let the goodies melt together. You can eat it with a spoon or bite right into the cone. This is sure to become a favorite treat!
And of course, there is the classic s’more– 3 simple ingredients that have been keeping campers satisfied for decades. A toasted marshmallow sandwiched between a piece of milk chocolate and graham crackers.
