Summer Drinks

As a kid, part of the fun of summer was the icy drinks you got to have at pool parties! Why should being an adult be any different? Enjoy your favorite childhood summer drinks mixed with one of the best perks of being an adult! Enjoy your summer in style with some of these boozy recipes.

Wine Slushies

Also known as adult slushies, these frozen, blended alcoholic beverages will be a fantastic addition to any pool party or relaxing day with a book. They’re very easy to make and all you need are some ingredients, a blender, and a wine glass to enjoy!

Ingredients

  • Your choice of frozen fruit (3 cups)
  • Ice cubes (3 cups)
  • Your choice of wine (1 bottle)
Just combine these ingredients in a blender, blend until slushie texture, pour, and enjoy!

Boozy Lemonade

Even easier than the wine slushies, boozy lemonade is a perfect mixture between the iconic summer lemonade drink and the iconic summer party feeling!

Ingredients

  • Lemonade of your choice (1 bottle)
  • Alcohol of your choice (1-2 shots per serving)
Pour the alcohol into a pitcher first so you can tell how much is actually in there, add the lemonade, mix, and enjoy!

The Blue

This is a drink that my roommates and I created earlier this year and has become one of our favorite summer drinks because it’s delicious, simple, and fun!

Ingredients

  • Bacardi (1-2 shots)
  • Calypso Ocean Blue Lemonade (1 bottle)
Grab a cup, pour the amount of Bacardi you want into the cup, shake up the Calypso and pour the bottle into the cup with the rum, and mix.

Orange Creamsicle Mimosa

For those of us who love a mimosa but also love the iconic, summer orange creamsicle; why not have both?

Ingredients

  • Sugar (¼ cup)
  • Orange Juice (1 cup)
  • Heavy Cream (1 tbsp)
  • Champagne (1 bottle)
  • Orange (1, cut in slices)
Use the orange slices to wet the rim of the champagne flutes, dip in sugar, and set aside. In a separate glass, stir together the cream and orange juice, pour the mixture into the champagne flutes, top off with champagne, and garnish with orange.

Wine-o Popsicles

Enjoy some popsicles spiked with your favorite wine to cool off by the pool this summer! They’re fun and super easy to make; all you need is some fruit, water, sugar, wine, and a popsicle tray.

Ingredients

  • Fruit (frozen or otherwise – 1 pound)
  • Water (2 cups)
  • Sugar (1.5 cups)
  • Wine of your choice (2.5 cups)
Blend the water and fruit into a smooth puree, add the puree into a saucepan with the sugar and stir to combine. Boil the mixture then reduce to a simmer until the sugar has dissolved completely and the mixture is syrupy, this should take about 8 minutes. Remove from the heat, discard the foam on top, and discard any seeds via strainer once mixture cools. Finally, add the wine of your choice, stir, fill your popsicle tray with the mixture, add sticks, freeze, and enjoy!   Do you have a favorite summer treat? Comment below!
