Summer Weddings

What better time to tie the knot than in the summer? The weather is warm, allergies from the spring are calming down, and flowers are still blooming! Here are some tips on how to have the summer wedding of your dreams!

Summertime is a great time of year to consider having an outdoor wedding depending upon where you live, the weather, and geographical options. Here are some great outdoor venues for summer weddings!

Beach: What’s more iconic than a wedding on the beach in the summer? Lay out some chairs, rent an arch, and set up right in front of the waves. Get married in the presence of your family and friends with the expansive sea as your backdrop.

Gardens: With the flowers blooming and foliage thriving, getting married in a garden during the summer is practically a fairytale.

Barn: Partly outside and partly inside, getting married in an old barn provides some shade from the summer sun while still enjoying the nice weather of the season. Not to mention how trendy it is in 2018!

Summer Colors

When it comes to colors for your summer wedding there are really two different ways you could go in terms of summer color palettes; bright and pastel. Bright colors are exciting and eye catching and create an upbeat summer vibe for your wedding. Pastels on the other hand give your wedding a soft, sweet vibe that still represent the multitude of colors available in the summer. These options are opposite in effect but both very appropriate for summer weddings and are fantastic options for any couple looking to tie the knot!

Summer Flowers

An important thing to remember when planning your wedding regardless of the season is that flowers are not always in season. True, in this day and age you can usually get the flowers you want regardless of the season. However, the more out of season the flower is, the more it is going to cost you. Flowers that naturally grow in the season your event will be taking place in will be less expensive than getting out of season flowers.

The flowers that are in season during the summer include:

  • Craspedia
  • Yellow Gerbera
  • Oncidium Orchid
  • Poppy
  • Snapdragon
  • Spider Chrysanthemum
  • Sunflower
  • Purple Alstroemeria
  • Freesia
  • Matsumoto Aster
  • Stock
  • Veronica
  • Bells of Ireland
  • Fiji Chrysanthemum
  • Green Trick
  • Green Hydrangea
  • Green Rose
  • Zinnia
Don’t forget that in summer there are going to be a lot of options in terms of greenery that you can add into your flowers to add an extra pop of color to your bouquets!

Dress Code

In the summer, free and flowy are the two keywords for your dress code. It will be hot so you may not want to go for a full ball gown as your wedding dress if you’re planning a summer wedding. Additionally, you have to make sure you consider logistics when determining what you and your wedding party will wear. If you plan on having a beach wedding, understand that you will most likely not be wearing heels. Likewise if you plan on having a garden wedding you may not want a wedding dress that will have any fabric that may get caught on branches.

Don’t forget about your wedding party! If you think it’s going to be too hot to wear a floor length dress, don’t put your bridesmaids in them either.

If you make sure to follow these tips, you’ll be on your way to having a beautiful and trendy summer wedding!
