It all started when I was a student majoring in New Media at Academy of Art University in San Francisco. During the later years of my study, I found myself enjoying hands on projects such as Book Making, Silk Screen, and Jewelry Making. Years later, making jewelry became my hobby/passion and stress reliever. When I first started out in 2006, I did trunk shows and events. I had a shop on Etsy with over 4500+ sales and 250+ followers and consignment/wholesale with retail stores in East Coast.
Unfortunately, when I had my first child I had to set aside my business. Now, I am a mom of two young children and I've learned that my Jewelry business gives me work flexibility and releases the stress I have from my hectic stay- at- home- mom's life. I feel blessed because I get to do what I love doing and am able to take care of my family at the same time.
Aside of my jewelry business, I am also a licensed tax preparer. Why taxes? That's because a sound business needs good financial planning. My tax book was a disaster during the first few years of my business and I found myself wondering how to cope with that. In the end, I took sales tax, self- employed taxes and QuickBooks courses. After the completion of my education, I was offered a job- tax preparer. I asked myself, Why not? I can help others with their taxes and it doesn't interfere with my jewelry business.
Meeting and working with different people inspires me. The stories I heard from my clients have impact on my designs, color selections, and techniques. Another major source of inspiration comes from my encounters with nature and children during my daily life when I take my kids out for a walk, or a hike, or to a playground, or to a treasure hunt. You will be surprised how young children minds work especially in the cultural and ethnic diversity San Francisco has to offer..
