Get to Know
I studied the art of stained glass for with two master glass craftsmen in Virginia Beach, learning the Tiffany copper foil and traditional lead construction methods. I enjoy using the Tiffany plated glass technique, which enables me to bring more depth to my creations. I also like to work with 3-D projects. I am inspired by the colors and textures in nature and enjoy bringing life and movement to the static hard form of glass.
I am mostly self-taught in the art of fused glass. Learning from books, wonderful people I've met on the internet who are generous with their knowledge, good old trial and error, and online classes.
I've self-studied the art of Wire Wrap and find that it is a wonderful way to create wearable art using fused glass and fused dichroic cabochons that I created in the kiln.
I design my own patterns, taking images from everyday life and transforming them into lovely pieces of art that will last for many, many years.
I make Fine Silver jewelry, having studied the art form at d-Art Center in Virginia Beach. With this medium I also take inspiration from nature, but sometimes create abstract pieces. Being locked into one style is not for me. Some of my pieces are molded using leaves, pods, flowers and other things found in the yard.
I have taught classes in Mosaics, Artistic Rubber Stamping, Collage and Altered Book Art at local craft stores, the Arts of the Albemarle and through the Northeast NC Craft Workshop. My work can be purchased locally at:
