Get to Know
I first learned to crochet when I was 7 years old. At the time I mostly just made lots of chains in pretty colors to wear as bracelets because what else does a 7 year old make? Once I got older I taught myself to knit and haven't put down my needles since. After making lots of wonky practice pieces and finally perfecting the craft, Olivewood Knits was born in late 2015. I realized that I could make stuff for myself for the rest of my life but the real joy comes from sharing such cozy pieces with others to enjoy as well.
When it comes to creating new pieces for my shop, I start by thinking of what piece I want to make for myself. I then get to planning out measurements and yarn types I want to use for my project. When the idea blossoms in my head I immediately write down every detail about what I want to include in the piece, from the perfect color to how I want the finished product displayed on myself or in my home. I could not even begin to create something if I don't have a serious passion for the project. This spark of passion is what keeps me going to the very last stitch. To hold a finished piece and know you have made it with your own two hands is one of the best feelings in the world. I can only hope that you feel the same amount of joy and love that goes into each piece for yourself. The love that goes into each piece is what makes Olivewood knits special.
Each time a piece is sent off, there is such a great feeling knowing that someone, somewhere will now get to enjoy a little piece of my love.
