Interests

I'm very interested in beading and that takes up a good bit of my time. Other interests include wire wrapping, researching gemstones - where they come from - the powers attributed to them throughout history - how they are cut and sometimes treated, reading, painting and gardening. In 2015 I started a new venture and became a consultant for a major skin care company. I've always tried to take care of myself but, upon entering my seventieth decade, I just didn't like the way my skin looked and decided it was time to do something about that. And a friend introduced me to Rodan and Fields. I found the products are not only marvelous - they come with a sixty day money back guarantee! I love the results I got and hope you'll check out my sites for these products at one of the links below. If yo're interested in the products, use the .com link. If you think you might want to become a consultant yourself, use the .biz link and I'll be happy to help you get started with my great team.

Skills and Techniques

I started learning to do wire wrapping in late 2014 and found it's an excellent way to use some of the beads I've collected over the years. There are a wealth of "how-to" videos and tutorials on the internet - just google "wire weaving" or "wire wrap tutorials". I've found wire weavers to be among the nicest and most helpful people I know. I wrap slowly - I have arthritis and find it takes me longer to finish a wire wrapped piece because I have to rest my hands a good bit.

Get to Know

I began selling jewelry in 2004 - jewelry that was manufactured by others. As my inventory grew, so did my interest in where the designs came from and how the construction of the pieces was achieved. Then I discovered beads. Small, beautiful orbs that are works of art in their own right. I found that I could create things of substance, beauty and meaning with a bit of wire, a few beads and some findings. Each completed piece gives me a marvelous sense of fulfillment and achievement. I'm primarily self-taught but have completed classes in wire wrapping at William Holland School of Lapidary Arts, Young Harris, GA. in 2008, Lost Wax Casting at Wildacres Retreat, Little Switzerland, NC in 2007 and drawing with artist, Rebecca Zdybel in Myrtle Beach SC in 2013. In July 2012 one of my pieces was the winner of the Nina Design Tree of Life Jewelry Design Challenge. My work has been exhibited in the Trumbull Art Gallery in Warren, Ohio and also Treasures of the Earth Gem Shows in Ocean City, MD, Virginia Beach, VA, and Raleigh, NC; Gem Street USA Shows in Sharonville, Ohio, Indianapolis, IN and Berea, Ohio; Pinellas Mineral and Gem Show in Largo, FL and Frank Cox Productions in Clearwater, FL, Ft Myers, FL, St Petersburg, FL and Raleigh, NC. The design of a piece is the longest part of the process and I draw inspiration from the things around me, and from the beads themselves. I quickly became, and still am, enchanted by this process.
