Get to Know

Let me introduce myself! I am Janice Alexander, an Artist/Jewelry Designer who happily resides in beautiful Virginia with my husband and two Boxer dogs (Austin and Molly). My desire to find a creative outlet led me in the direction of creating beautiful and unique jewelry and glass pieces ... leading me to an addictive passion! My journey began with beading, then PMC (Precious Metal Clay), metalsmithing, and fused glass, with more to learn each day! Most of my learning has been from books, online tutorials, forums, and hands-on experience. All of my work is created in my home-based studio.I fire multiple layers of dichroic glass and at least two pieces of fusible art glass in a kiln for 8 hours. After cooling in the kiln overnight, the pieces are cut to a desired shape using a tile saw, the edges are smoothed using a grinder, and the glass is placed back in the kiln for 4 to 6 hours to firepolish. Each glass piece has been properly annealed for strength and durability. Once cooled, the pieces are handwrapped in sterling silver to make pendants and earrings, or using sterling silver sheet metal to create bracelets. Please contact me if you have any questions.
