Get to Know

Hi everyone. I'm Nancy, a retired Kindergarten teacher. My first experience with making jewelry was when I was an undergraduate art student and took a class in jewelry Design and Fabrication using copper and silver. For many years after this class I was busy teaching first as an art instructor in high school and elementary school and ultimately as a Kindergarten class room teacher. In 2003 I retired and soon found myself at loose ends. Then one day I was window shopping in the village section of town and saw a sign: The Bouncing Bead. Soon I was signed up for my first class, Beading 101. Next came classes in bead weaving and wire work. I was quite content with this for a couple of years. Then the real fun started when a friend who is contractor handed me several pieces of 12ga electrical wire and said, "Here see what you can do with this." That was the start of a love affair with wire work, wire jewelry and eventually back to metal work. Currently my work is available in the gift shop of the Oceanside Museum of Art in Oceanside, CA. I also sell to private individuals, at craft fairs and home parties and to personal shoppers.
