Weekly Challenge #161: "In a Quandary about Quandary"

This week's challenge from The Diva's Weekly Zentangle Challenge is "In a Quandary about Quandary".Quandary is the pattern on the left side. I was so very tempted to draw grid-lines to get it straight, but I stuck to it and told the perfectionist in me to "shyudup".  I have yet to try this pattern to fill shapes but I'd love to try it on a sphere to make it extra dimensional. ... » Read More

Weekly Challenge #160: "String Theory: Spiral out, Keep Going! (v.2)"

This week's challenge from The Diva's Weekly Zentangle Challenge is "String Theory: Spiral out, Keep Going! (v.2)".This tangle named itself... "Hypnotic".  Spirals are very hypnotic by themselves, but when the ovals were thrown in I had to make them eyes.  This tangle was fun!  ... » Read More

Weekly Challenge #159: "Top O' the Morning"

This week's challenge from The Diva's Weekly Zentangle Challenge is "Top O' the Morning".  The challenge was to incorporate the inspiration of St. Patrick's Day and the first thing that always enters my mind for St. Patrick's Day is a clover.  Inside my tangle you'll see a whole bunch of them...sweet 16 to be exact (I didn't plan that, it must be lucky!).  The tangles that I used were:~  TELIS (Instead of using the single leaf of TELIS in every other block I switched it out for a simple clover.~ PARADOX ... » Read More

Weekly Challenge #158: "Duotangle: Diva Dance + Crescent Moon"

This week's challenge from The Diva's Weekly Zentangle Challenge is "Duotangle: Diva Dance + Crescent Moon".  This challenge was a real quick and fun one.  I liked how fast everything came together and I can imagine more fun uses for the Diva Dance... used horizontally and by incorporating "windows" you can have your own little hobbit holes!    Use Diva Dance vertically and you can design tree bark and tree knots.  Off to have more fun!...  ... » Read More

Dual Challenges! Weekly Challenge #157: "UMT - Charlie" & Zendala Dare #93 - Snowflake Surprise

Talk about fun!  Taking on TWO challenges in one week.  The first challenge is from The Diva's Weekly Zentangle Challenge #157: "UMT - Charlie".  What a fun tangle!  The tangle is inspired by Charlie Brown's striped shirt.  I overlapped the points on every-other point to create the design you see below. Next, from the The Bright Owl , we have Zendala Dare #93 - Snowflake Surprise.  I forced myself to break out of my usual "draw the lines, then fill" way of creating this Zendala.  I think it turned out fairly well and I'm ready to try a new one.  ... » Read More

Weekly Challenge #156: "Curvy Gridlock"

This week's challenge from The Diva's Weekly Zentangle Challenge is "Curvy Gridlock"...try grid-based patterns on curvy or uneven grids.  Feel the freedom of not being constrained in right angles!! This week's challenge was pretty fun!... but I think I went a little overboard trying to fill the entire space.  I can't seem to find a happy medium; it's either fill, fill, fill, or draw a single little design and have a ton of white space.  Still, drawing grid-based designs on a curved grid is great exercise.  I'm off to find more difficult patterns to try...  ... » Read More

Zendala Dare #92

I finally found some time to join the fun at The Bright Owl !  For the first challenge I decided to stick completely to the lines of the provided template then I filled it with easy patterns.  ... » Read More

Weekly Challenge #155: "A Little White Space"

This week's challenge from The Diva's Weekly Zentangle Challenge is "A Little White Space". Since I'm new to Tangling I think I am VERY good at White Space.    Mostly it's because I haven't tried a lot of patterns yet, but it's also because I can't seem to get myself to draw when I'm unsure that it will turn out "pretty"... there's that darn inner critic again. The first design is a Mandala.  I don't know why, but I am completely drawn toward mandalas.  Love them!  The second design is just a repeating "leaf" pattern.I don't know if this pattern has a name in the Zentangle world, but I like it! (Side-note regarding Comments: ... » Read More

Weekly Challenge #154: "Valentangle"

This week's challenge from The Diva's Weekly Zentangle Challenge is "Valentangle".  I kept it fairly simple this week because this one is for my hubby who isn't really into cutesy flowery things.I knew it had to have a heart component and the rest fell into place quickly.... » Read More

Weekly Challenge #153: UMT v.24 "Jailed Johnny - by Sadelle Wiltshire, CZT"

This week's challenge from The Diva's Weekly Zentangle Challenge (#153) is a UMT (Use My Tangle) called "Jailed Johnny" by Sadelle Wiltshire, CZT.  I think it turned out fairly well. I can see the potential for using this pattern to create a butterfly/dragonfly-wing border or mandala.  As much as I desperately wanted to add more to this Tangle, my work schedule has changed drastically and I might only have 10 minutes in a day when I'm not too tired and can maintain the focus needed to draw a steady line. Geez... work!...such an evil four letter word. *wink*>... » Read More

Zentangle Challenge #152: New Official Tangle AQUAFLEUR

Wow, I seriously need to get away from the fluorescent lights to take better pictures of my drawings... YIKES!  Anyhoo... (The Diva's Weekly Zentangle Challenge) This week's challenge was to use the new tangle called Aquafleur.  I am hoping that I got the design correct.... I made one "big" boo-boo and it irritates the you-know-what out of me.  I wonder if you seasoned Tangle veterans will spot it right away. _________________________________________________________February 2 - Update:The butterfly I discussed earlier is taking a lot longer to finish thanks to a change in my work schedule... darn work! What a waste of perfectly good craf... » Read More

Zentangle Challenge #151 String Theory: Moebius Syndrome Awareness

This week's challenge (The Diva's Weekly Zentangle Challenge) is to create a tangle that focuses on bringing awareness to a disorder called Moebius Syndrome. What is Moebius Syndrome?Moebius syndrome is a rare neurological disorder that is present at birth. It primarily affects the 6th and 7th cranial nerves, leaving those with the condition unable to move their faces (they can’t smile, frown, suck, grimace or blink their eyes) and unable to move their eyes laterally.About the Tangle:I saw the square/starburst pattern online and wondered what it would look like on curved lines...it turned out pretty cool, I think. But having a plain... » Read More

Zentangle Challenge #150 "One Little Word"

Hello again Everyone! This week's challenge  from The Diva's Weekly Zentangle Challenge (#150) is "One Little Word".  The idea is to pick one word that you want to be your focus for the year.  In my case the word I chose was ACTION... to get moving, to get up and get going, to stop making excuses and do things that are fun, exciting, or just plain need to get done (ie. housework)!  Participating in this weekly challenge is just one way I can get into Action!  And it's FUN!!!  ... » Read More

Zentangle Challenge #149 "2014"

Hi Everyone! For one of my newest creative endeavors for the New Year I have started participating in the The Diva's Weekly Zentangle Challenge.  So much fun!   The first challenge is to make a design based on "2014"; so many ideas crossed my mind.  Beautiful scroll-work, pointillism, dice (oops... no zero side), Dominoes, but I think I've found the design that I seem to come back to every time...Mandalas!!  I can already tell, lettering is going to be trouble for me.  Guess I'll just have to work on that!... and my favorite; Mandalas!!!   ... » Read More

The latest round of tie dye

Finally got some time to work on a few pieces of tie dye tonight.  I'm hoping that this... Turns into something beautiful like this... Actually, the items batching in the bags are being gradient dyed.   They have been dyed using a similar color as the skirt/dress shown in the second photo.  The dress hanging on the left is only going to have the lower half dyed. The one on the right (that you can't even see) is being dyed with the darkest color on top and the lower hem remaining white. I can't wait to see how these new items turn out!   PEACE!!! ... » Read More

Another beautiful day...

We have had some amazingly beautiful days here in the Pacific Northwest that I just had to share one particular photo I took from the bed of the Snohomish River.  When the snows start melting in the mountains this bed will be completely submerged and my tiny stacked rock sculpture will be a playground for fish.  ... » Read More
