A Beautiful Christmas Tree

Every year at Christmas time I see such beautiful Christmas trees.  At the Malls, in Christmas Movies, and in the homes of my family and friends.  Some of these trees are adorned with beautiful matching ornaments, lights, ribbons and tinsel.  Then there is the other type of decorated Christmas tree.  The kind that has a hodge podge of ornaments, hardly any of them that match.  Some that have been purchased, some that are handmade, some that were gifts, and some that were handed down.  This second type of Christmas tree is the kind that I have.......and to me it's the most beautiful Christmas tree ever.  My Christmas tree tells... » Read More

Let's talk Fruit Flies

Fruit flies....nasty little buggers! I'm sure at one point you have encountered the nasty little bugs called fruit flies.  I have no idea where they all of a sudden come from but guaranteed they will show up if I leave fresh fruit or veggies on my counter. I searched online to find out how to get rid of them and found a solution that works.  Pour some APPLE vinegar into a glass.  Cover the top tightly with plastic wrap and secure it with a rubber band or pony tail holder.  Then poke small holes into the plastic. The fruit flies, thinking that the apple vinegar is yummy fruit or veggies, crawls through the holes and gets caught... » Read More

Food for the college child in your life!

If you have a child/children in college, you know that they most likely eat a lot of fast food.  Not only is fast food unhealthy, but man does it get expensive! I thought I would share a tip with you that I have been doing for one of my sons.  When I make meals, I make more than what we will need.  I package the left-overs into individual serving size freezer bags and place in the freezer.  Then when my son comes home for a visit, he goes back to college with a pretty nice selection of home cooked meals!  He LOVES it! I even told both Grandmas what I was doing and asked them if they would be interested in making up some ... » Read More

Remembering Grandma

I recently had a request to custom make some rings for some people whos Grandmother had passed away.  They each had picked out some of her clip on earrings and wanted me to make them into rings for them. This is such a great way to remember a loved one.  Now instead of them just placing the clip on earrings in a jewelry box, they now have something that they can wear and remember their Grandma every time they look down at their hand.  Here are two of the ones that I have made so far. This ring was worn to Prom! If you are interested in having custom work done, please send me an email at shellieshu@live.... » Read More

Scarf Bling Rings

I spent this past weekend browsing antique/thrift shops and I'm happy to say that I found a lot of neat things!  One of them being a fun summer scarf in oranges, peaches, browns, and white.  With orange and peach being the "in" color for summer, I had to buy it to wear with my summer outfits! When I got home, I thought I'd dress my mannequin for Spring so I put on a pretty summer skirt in the same color scheme as the scarf, a blue tank top, and then tied the scarf around the neck. It looked good but I wanted to add some kind of bling.  TADA - light bulb came on!....I went and grabbed one of my upcycled vintage rings and slid... » Read More

Decorated Easter Eggs

This weekend I was decorating my house for Easter and came across the box of Easter Eggs that I decorated a few years ago.  I just love them and thought you might like to make some of your own.   All I did was take decorative trim that I found in the fabric store and cut it apart so I had a bunch of single flowers.  Then using glue dots I glued the flowers all over the eggs until I got the look that I liked.  You can cover the eggs as much or as little as you like.  I did NOT hard boil or blow out my eggs first.  I used regular eggs straight from the refrigerator.  The insides will eventually dry up and will la... » Read More

Tour of my craft room

Here is my newly organized craft room.  It has four doors in it with one leading to the laundry room, another leads to a bathroom, one leads to the family room, and the fourth door leads into my new jewelry studio.  Before I had my jewelry studio, this is the room that I had ALL of my crafts and jewelry stuff in and it was a huge disorganized nightmare!                                                        Ready for the tour?  Here we go..... My jewerly studio is finished!

I am excited to say that my new jewelry studio is finally finished! Well, I should say finished as much as it can be until this Spring when I remove that ugly wallpaper and replace it with paint. Here are some photos and descriptions for you. Please leave a comment and tell me what you think! This is what you see when you walk through the door and turn to the right.  Those white doors are a closet. This is the inside of my closet.  I've used sectioned drawer organizers to hold my vintage jewelry pieces.  I will need to buy a lot more as I have so much that still needs to be sorted.  It was a bit dark in there so ... » Read More
