Stained Glass Pansies #1 Art Quilt- 8x10- Applique with Pieced Border

Image Description
"Stained Glass Pansies #1" Art Quilt- 8"x10"- Applique with Stained Glass Pieced Border by Sue Andrus. In the 5"x7" center of this piece of Wall Art is a Pansy plant, with a life sized bloom and 2 buds in shades of medium to deep blue, appliqued over a hand painted sky blue fabric. Hand guided quilting with variegated threads accents the veins in the leaves, outlines and adds interest to the flowers, and creates the motion of a swirling breeze in the background. A tiny butterfly of deep purple fabric accented with stitch and paint flits above the Pansies. The Stained Glass look border has many different hand painted, dyed and commercial fabric bits satin stitched together. The black thread in the stitching gives the stained glass look. There are even a few little pieces of some of my sunprinted fabrics included for a bit more interest. The seam between the center applique panel and the border has a black yarn with silver metallic accent couched over it. The outer edge of the piece is bound with the same black yarn couched on to give the border even more of a stained glass look. These piece was made with the thought of having it displayed in a frame, so there are no hanging loops or sleeve on the back. If you would like to hang this as it is, I can add hanging loops so that you can hang it on small picture hooks or even thumbtacks... Please let me know if you would want them added in the "Notes to seller" area as you are checking out. It would look wonderful framed with a matted border in an 11" x 14" frame to make it stand out even more on your wall. It could also be displayed by stitching it to an 8"x10" or larger gallery wrapped artist canvas that has been painted or wrapped in fabric. You can see some quilts that I have mounted on canvas in the Canvas Mounted Art Quilts of my shop if you would like to see various canvas treatments I used for those quilts. This Art Quilt and "Stained Glass Pansies #2" were made to be a coordinating pair. Both have the Stained Glass look borders and would look great displayed together or individually. Since the borders were made at the same time, there are several pieces of fabrics that are the same in each allowing them to tie in with each other even better.
