Alfred Jones founded Royal Grafton in 1876 in Staffordshire, England. The company ceased production almost 100 years later in 1972. Initially known as just Grafton China they became Royal Grafton after receiving a Royal Warrant,a mark of recognition and demonstrating excellence and quality, from Queen Mary.

Interesting tidbit is that Alfreds grandson used the warehouse during leave from the great war for target practice! I wonder just how many poor pieces of bone china he shot?!
