The decoration is a an abundant Saskatchewan rural scene with the indigenous orange Prairie Lillies, a wheat field and grain towers. The colors are still vibrant with golds, green, orange, blue.

Nice addition for a minature shoe, Saskatchewan memorabilia, bone china or English china collection.

The clog measures approx:
3.5in (9cm) length
1.5in(4cm) height
1.25in (3.5cm) width

Excellent condition with no crazing, chips or cracks.

Sandford pottery was based at Wareham in Dorset and closed in 1966. So I have dated this as 1966 - but it may be older.

I love interesting tidbits and discovered that their kilns were still steam-driven (powered by coal)until the 1950s. The heat from the kilns was a Godsend to many vagrants who slept near them for the heat.

Sandford pottery was also unusual in that it wasn't based in the traditional heart of pottery making land which was Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, or Worcester.

It operated from 1866 to 1966 - a full glorious century.
