This little guy is just getting the hang of flying, following in the footsteps of his forefathers as a flying Ace! Title: Hang On! Size: 8x8 Medium: Professional Print on ultra premium matte paper This painting was created for the Art House Group Exhibition showing through Sept. 4, 2009 at the Hartsfield Jackson International Airport in Atlanta. Inspiration I love to paint animals, and I started out adding hats to dogs and making things a little bit silly. I guess it didn't take long for people to find me to paint portraits of their own pets. Whimsy abounds at Smelly Rhino Studio (yep, that's what I named it). I like being silly, I'm different and I'm ok with that. There's so much serious in the world, I wanted to add a little fun and found that people appreciate it. My customers want to remember their pets with a smile, and that really makes me happy. Soon after I started I realized I could so much more good than just my customers happy, so I started to give back to help animals in need, and every time I sell an animal related art piece, I donate a portion of the proceeds to a local shelter to help provide needed medical care for local rescue animals and help them find permanent homes. Biography I grew up in the Pacific Northwest but I've made Atlanta home since 1999. I'm a painter, illustrator and trompe l'oeil muralist accustomed to working in just about every medium because of my experience as a commissioned artist but I work most with mixed media. I also paint whimsical animal portraits and illustrations and you may find those online by searching for Smelly Rhino Studio or on find my other shops on Etsy and Artfire. Formally educated in Fine Art and French at Seattle University, I also studied French in France. After two decades and two career changes including Fashion and later, Interior Design, I eventually decided to pursue my passion for painting and went to school to be a decorative painter, attending the Faux School in Louisville and the Finishing Source in Atlanta, where I learned all aspects of interior decorative painting for walls, furniture and molding. It was during this time that I met and studied the art of Trompe L'oeil, tutored by the Premier Craftsman of France, Michel Nadai. Since then, I have gone on to complement my other painting skills by attending the Dru Blair School in North Carolina. Dru is one of the foremost airbrush artists in the world and I recommend his courses highly to add another layer to your depth of abilities. As a fine artist, I really feel that this background has really enhanced my traditional Fine Art education. I really love mixing textures and my decorative painting background is proving to be an important addition to my Fine Art applications. I have been painting my whole adult life, but have been a full-time artist since 2006. I am a self-represented artist and award winning member of EBSQart.com as well as the ACEO team (Art Cards Editions and Originals) right here on ebay. I've been published in the Art House Co-op's Canvas Project 2009. Policies: I will do everything I can to ensure that you love what you get!
