Get to Know

From the subways of New York, to the hieroglyph studded walls of the ancient Pyramids, the intent of wall writings ...aka "GRAFFITI" are to convey to the world a statement or story.

The essence of designer, Sandra Miller's creative process is very much the same. Her OFF THE WALL "signature" style not only flatters the feminine aura, but ultimately makes an artistic statement about the wearer of her eclectic creations

Inspired by the photography of her travels at home and abroad, Sandra's passionate appreciation for the details, and love of life are reflected in every aspect of her art and designs.

A detail that is little known about Sandra...she is legally blind, only seeing out of a small straw sized hole in one eye. What she lacks in one kind of "vision" she makes up for as her own vision of art, inspired by life!

Sandra's introduction to art began very early growing up in a family of artists. Her parents, Joe and Eunice, were the famous CERAMICS BY MESSER potters of North Dakota. Their hand thrown porcelain pottery was sold out of their shop to most anyone who passed through Bowman ND during the 1950's. Messer pottery is featured in the book Dakota Potteries by Darlene Dommel and is also featured at the Pioneer Trails Regional Museum in Bowman, North Dakota.

During the 1980's, until the untimely passing of her father, Joe, Sandra and her parents combined efforts to produce miniature dolls under the name Les Petite Bebe's. All of the delicate miniatures (which stood 1-1/2" to 3" in height) were dressed in clothing that was hand sewn by Sandra out of the finest antique fabrics.

Since then Sandra has experimented with sculpture and other mediums but her primary focus for 15 years had been on watercolor canine portraiture and porcelain sculpture. Sandra has been commissioned by numerous dog clubs to paint watercolors for their special awards. She has painted for the Lhasa Apso Club of America, the Evergreen Shiba Inu Club, the Atlanta Chow Chow Club and the Chow Chow Club Inc.

Another very special honor was being invited to illustrate the 31 page AKC STANDARD OF THE CHOW CHOW Sandras' originals grace the homes of numerous private collectors in the United States, Canada, and abroad.

All during these years in sculpture and painting Sandra was creating jewelry as a side interest...Jewelry design has been a passion lurking just behind the scenes of every medium she chose to conquer.

15 years ago the artist made the decision to totally immerse herself in her love for unique personal adornment.... and you can find her today with her creative muses by her side in the form of 2 Chows who serve double duty as full time fallen bead patrol in the GRAFFITI studio!
