Get to Know
Welcome! My name is Leslie and I am a professor in a veterinary nursing program by day. By night I love to crochet and create up-cycled jewelry.
How did LadyBug Boutique begin you ask? It all started during finals week my sophomore year at James Madison University. My roommates and I decided to learn to knit. Perfect distraction during finals. It wasn't until several years later when my mom so kindly taught me a single crochet stitch. It was then I made scarves for everyone I knew. Soon everyone was fully equipped so I put my hook away. Then Christmas time 2010 my husband wanted to give gifts for his coworkers and I thought I'd try to make hats. I was hooked! I made 6 in a week and then thought about all the fun interesting hats I could make. There aren't many interesting or fun hats for adults. So I decided to open my own boutique. My husband had been interested in using found objects for his art projects and I found that some of his objects made for unique jewelry!
We live in a busy suburb with 2 dogs, Gracie and Weebles, and 3 cats, Fluffy, Maggie, and Yoko. We hope someday soon to open a business together that will showcase both his art and my crafts. We dream of living in a Yurt in the country with a screened in porch and maybe a female pygmy goat.
