Get to Know

Creativity awakens within me my sense of purpose. Art is like foods for me. I have to have it in order to sustain myself. I grew up in the Ozarks of Missouri, spending days roaming in those deep primeval forests with her dog. Many fantastical creatures were encountered and befriended. Fantasy resides in the penthouse of my wild imagination, along with the muses, \"Whimsy\" and \"Mirth\". The riotous colors of gardens play out in the luscious colors of her clay creations. Before becoming addicted to polymer clay, I traveled to many exotic places, capturing with my photography the beauty of gardens. One can see the influences of Hawaii, the Berkshires of New England, Nova Scotia, Tuscany and the deserts of the Southwest in my designs. Polymer clay is a wonderful medium with which to recreate these fantastical flights of imagination and capture the world of garden sprites I knew from my childhood. I like to incorporate elements of wood, metal and stone that connects us with our natural environment and spiritual plane. With each piece inspiration dances with spiritual balancing. Teaching is also a great passion and I have taught many workshops and classes for young people, adults and individuals with special learning abilities. Clay is such a wonderful media in which to work and it lends itself so perfectly to a great range of creative talents and abilities. My work has shown in Phoenix-area galleries, Maine and Wisconsin. I now reside in the wonderful creative community of Silver City, New Mexico. My work is currently showing in the Silver Spirit Gallery. I have also participated in numerous Art Walks and Fairs.
