Get to Know

Welcome to MidwestieLady Gallery! I am a published mixed media artist. Look for my mixed media art in Stampington's Somerset Studio Gallery, Spring 2011 issued on June 1, 2011. I also have a feature article on my art in the August 1, 2011 issue of GreenCraft, another Stampington publication.

I am the creater of the art and gifts listed in MidwestieLady Gallery. I was born and raised in the Midwest, Iowa to be exact. I moved to Missouri in 1984, and then to Florida in 2002. When I chose the name Midwestie Lady, I was living in the Midwest and owned a small Westie puppy, so I created the name Midwestie Lady. That small puppy is now ten years old and he is enjoying my retirement too! Creating art and painting have always been part of my life. I've drawn and painted pictures, painted greeting cards for family and friends, and painted on clothing and wood. I've enjoyed exploring mosaics, woodburning, stained glass, decorative painting, ceramics, wood carving and glass painting. But I've always returned to my first love, painting and creating original art. I love to create mixed media art because I can add vintage photos, drawings or clippings, lace or fabric, beads, jewelry, paper and other tid bits from my huge collections. I like to tell a story with my art and often add a touch of humor too. I want viewing my art to be like an adventure of wandering down a new street or seeing a different town. I hope you enjoy my art and it brings you a smile. Midwestie Lady Studio began in 2009 when I reserved the name here. I officially opened this studio on October 1, 2010. Midwestie Lady Studio will offer a wide variety of original art and other creations. You will fiind vintage styles using vintage prographs and elements, holiday art, Sailor's Valentine shell art, contemporary styles and Positive Words to uplift you. My goal is to offer original art in a wide range of pricing, so that everyone can add original art to their home. For my animal art and animal creations, please visit my other ArtFire shop: ISeeAnimals, currently under construction. Thanks for stopping by Midwestie Lady Art Studio, where the door is always open, the cookies are ready and a cool glass of southern iced tea is waiting for you! Linda HarbinMidwestieLady

This large mixed media piece honors my mother and her 50 years of sewing. The top right photo is her in her 20's wearing a dress she made. By following the line of buttons, you see her in later years wearing clothes she designed and sewed. She made her own patterns and could cut a pattern after seeing only a photo of a dress. Vintage pattern tissue, jewelry and a collar are accents. 2009
